The M/A-116 PARS is an air-to-ground missile designed and manufactured by Kobalt-Zeiss AG and NordEX Försvarssystemet AB. The PARS was designed to replace the M/A-115 CATO as an anti-tank armament primarily for helicopters. The PARS can be used either as a constantly guided missile via laser guidance, or it can be launched as a fire-and-forget missile using either passive infrared guidance or a millimeter wave radar seeker, depending on the variant, and can be employed in both direct attack and top attack modes. The missile can be fired in rapid salvoes, up to one missile every half second though rate of fire is naturally restricted by the target engagement process. Its multi-mission capability is limited; the PARS is only available with anti-tank warheads and is not intended to be launched from any platform other than ground mounts or helicopters.
