Manuel Rodrigo Allende Venegas was a Tropican revolutionary and politician who served as Prime Minister of Tropico from 1963 to 1979 and President from 1979 to 1988. Ideologically a Marxist-Leninist and Tropican nationalist, he also served as the First Secretary of the Tropican Socialist Worker's Party from it's formation in 1945 until his death in 1988. Under his administration the Republic of Tropico became the Democratic Socialist People's Republic of Tropico, a one-party communist state; industry and business were nationalized, and state socialist reforms were implemented throughout society.
