Meria, Officially known as United Federation Of Meria and sometimes colloquially known as the Federation, is a large-sized nation located in the northeast of Voytana it shares land borders with the Abov Voytsestria Of Etrius to the Southwest, Distan to the south and to the north: Savrene.
The United Federation Of Meria is well-known for their militarism, heroism and loyalty. As well their love of alcohol.
Formerly a loose coalition of Nations for mutual defence organisation known as "Meri-Corps", predecessor of the modern Federal Armed Forces. The United Federation compose of thirteen Member States, of which all were former independent nations. They are represented in the unicameral legislature body known as the Federal Council which currently has 13 Councillors representing 13 Member States.
It is one of the more advanced nation within Kalrania. With the Maryland's unknown origins and their inability to use magic. The Federation is a largely scientific nation. Although magic has been steadily becomes more popular among the science community as a form of study.
Since it's inception, the Federation has maintained a state of armed pacifist isolationism. Protected by their unique geographical location as well a large armed forces. The Federation has enjoyed relative peace since it's unification.
Etymology
The name of the Federation is of unknown origin, first coined by the Eluthania Colonial Administration and the Marylanders, who till this day are still shrouded in mystery. It is known, however. Meria could be the name of a ship or a planet. However, without conclusive evidence. The name's origin remain a mystery.
History
If anything, the United Federation is a cultural melting pot.
Archeological evidences of pre-historic humans, Dwarfs and Elvish cultural existence since at least 100.000 BC, some of the most significant cultures are the Solas Grèine Culture that inhabited the great grassland in the central region of the Federation. The pre-historic human culture is characterised by their elaborate shrines and rudimentary observatory that calculate the movement of stars in the sky. By 70-50.000 BC, a cultural split during the Neolithic period where the Human culture of Solas Greine broke into several chalcolithic cultures, one of the prominent culture is the Iwinui Culture who kickstarted the Bronze Age by 20.000 BC, at the same time. The Solaire-Öknen Culture, a creation of the cultural split emigrated to the southern region of the nation. To the North, the Lyukha-Sapfirovaya Culture and in the central region, along with the Iwinui Culture are the Imperial Ritterhoffen Culture. In 8.000 BC, archeological evidence of the Ritterhof Imperial Culture's great expansion span across the modern Federation territories, even into the Great Desert to the far-eastern fringe. For centuries, the Pre-historic nations residing in Modern-Day Federation engages in numerous conflicts. As proven by archeological evidence of bronze, iron and even steel weapons. The History of each cultures are largely outdated and heavily influenced by fiction and exgerration. Thus, this period of history is referred as Pre-Colonial Era, also known as the Dark Age Of Strife.
In 1362. According to Eluthanian archive, the Eluthania-Marylander Culture arrived on-board of a vessel unknown origin. This vessel has yet to be found as of today. However, archeological evidence of advanced technologies evident by signature of nuclear remnant over sites where Marylanders initially inhabited give a glimpse of who the Eluthanian were.
The Eluthanian were proven to be superior in intelligence and technology compared to the nations within the Federation at the time. Defeating the Riterhof and even the dreaded Öknen Empire in armed conflict, quickly cement the Marylander's authority over the region as they subjugate most of the native Countries. the Marylanders founded the Eluthania Colonial Administration, in belief that their master from the beyond would arrive one day. Eluthania flag today are still displayed on the Federal Coat Of Arms. Although largely for cosmetic reason.
In 1430, the ever-growing Colonies of Eluthanian grow more of a cultural distinction from the Colonial Administration, who still abide to the old code. Mostly due to the cultural contamination due to the intergration of the native cultures that were subjugated by the Marylanders decades ago.
This would lead to independence movement to rise up, political thinkers and scholars seeking independence from the growing abusive, authoritarian Colonial Authority. The Colonial Administration were disbanded in 1776 by a coup d'etat led by a Eluthanian General Joseph Granite, successfully depose of the authoritarian Colonial Administration. In return, he formed the Confederation Of The Thirteen Nations, however. The Confederation were plagued with political inefficiency, bureaucratic nightmare and with the assassination of General Granite, marked the end of the Confederation. Which only lasted for 1 year. Then. With the fragmentation of the Confederation, the nations that were previously subjugated and occupied by the Eluthania Colonial Administration regained their independence.
Since the 1300s, only four Eluthania vessels were reported to arrive with supplies and equipment. On board was General David Granite, the conqueror as well the founder of Eluthania Expeditionary Force. However, much of Eluthania is still within realm of speculation as it has been centuries since last contact with Eluthania. The Marylanders, a off-branch split from the initial Eluthania Colonists and Administration reorganised into the United States Of Maryland. Years of cultural exchange turned them into a mix of both Eluthanian and Native culture.
In 1957. First contact with foreigners of Oseiyra-Norein from the west, the great country of Vorstheim to the east, who at the time were far more advanced than the sword-wielding Öknen Empire ignited a sense of fear within the nations of the Region. Knowing that this is the time to propose a coalition, putting a end to the centuries of constant warfare between each others that caused a technological regression, destroying much of the infrastructure and technological developments made by the Eluthania Colonial Administration. Kin of General Joseph Granite, Richard Granite, current General of the Maryland Armed Forces, one of the most advanced armed forces at the time within the Realm of the Federation, along with the General Mikael Eriksson Of The Öknen Empire and General Walter Schneider of Riterhof Kingdom. Forming "Meri-Corps" with the intent of mutual cooperation in the defence of one and another from foreign incursion. This coalition would grow to also be a social, economical and later technological alliance, where members would engage in numerous exchanges to further development and cooperation between one and another.
Even though with the formation of "Meri-Corps", Now-Chairman Richard Granite is still not satisified. In 1961, The 40 Years old Chairman proposed to the Coalition Representatives the idea of the "Meria United Federation". At first, the idea were met with deadlock, discussion of authority and status of the military forces. Who, while have improved. Are still inadequate compared to the Maryland Armed Forces. Most of the Members are only utilising rudimentary firearms such as Muskets and cannons, whereas the Marylanders were utilising bolt-action rifles and landships. As well the status of independence and authority. One of the most heated discussion was related to the Öknen and Riterhof dispute over the Mittelland, at the time are occupied by Öknen. Riterhof declares that it is against the Coalition idea as Öknen invaded Mittelland even though they are a member of "Meri-Corps", Öknen argued that a puppet state is not a independent nation and thus cannot be member of the Coalition.
Although many roadblocks and deadlocks during the unification discussion were met. Most were easily fixed. The Mittelland dispute were resolved with a Maryland instating a joint-government led by both a Öknen and Riterhof representative, the Armed Forces would be unified and Maryland will oversee merging and rearming of national armies into the newly formed Federal Army as well oversee the development of the Federal Air Force, compose mostly of Öknen Flying Corps and Maryland Air Forces, while the Navy would be completely disbanded due to the limited funding.
in 1991, the treaty was rectified and the United Federation Of Meria came into existence. Richard Granite was knighted by the Riterhof King and made the first President of the United Federation by the Federal Council in a absolute victory with 13 votes for his presidency.
Sir Richard Granite, now President of the early Federation continue the development of the Federal Armed Forces as well cementing the authority of the Federal Government as well introducing universal healthcare and education to all citizenry as well declaring Military service as mandatory for the political rights, he also established direct democracy within member states, constitutionalised by the small Supreme Court and Council at the time as well establish the 10 years plan for the development of infrastructure and services of the Federation. He also established the Federal Energy Commission, banning the usage of fossil energy in alternative for Nuclear energy, in addition. He also supplemented with green energy to reduce reliance on nuclear energy, mostly solar, wind and water energy networks, His extensive development in Federal Public Services and especially Public Security are also held to high-regard. The Federal Department Of Public Security and Safety, also known as the Federal Police would replace all national-state and municipal level police forces, in return for a government-funded police forces with high-training requirement and well-equipped, professional law enforcement and firefighting forces. In the end, Sir Richard Granite only ruled the Federation for five years, declaring that it is time to step down. It's formally cemented the term of the presidency, of which. Now is the norm, all Presidents of the Federation would serve for five years per term, all presidents can run for another term with maximum of two terms.
Pre-Colonial era
Although not much was recorded prior to the founding of the Colonial Administration, Ritterhof and Öknen's national archive does retain several small details related to their founding. Although much is left to the realm of speculation due to the mythology-nature of these recorded events.
However, it is believed that the Ritterhof were one of the first civilisation in the present-day Federation according to archeological records conducted by the Federal University of History and Archeology.
Remnants of Ritterhof culture scatter across the grasslands of the Federation, traces of the Ritterhof within modern day Weideland, Mittelland and Erion territories tell that's the Ritterhof Kingdom was a major political power to the southern hemisphere of the Federation's territories. This is told through the similitarity in architecture, holidays and language.
To the north, the Öknen remain a predominant power until the arrival of the Eluthanians. This is told by their massive modern-day territories. According to the Öknen archive. The Öknen Empire was at it peak in 200 AR, afterward. It's remain to stagnant and later devolved into the modern-day Öknen Empire.
Archeological report dictates that's somewhere around 800 AR to 1000 AR. Inefficient government, political corruption and natural disasters such as the Great Famine of 980 AR, which caused by a bad harvest, believed to be caused by the longer than normal winter, the lack of government assistance and the overall lack of care toward the general populace led to the death of at least 80.000 people, according to archeological data, which laid waste to the Empire and caused the Empire to be broken into half, the modern-day Solaire Confederation and the modern-day Öknen Empire. According to Solaire Confederation archive, the Solaire Confederation consist of Öknen territories who violently broke away from the inefficient Empire to secure their own state. The Empire, weakened by it's corrupted government, were unable to contain the revolution and were forced to accept a ceasefire.
Currently, the Pre-Colonial history of the Federation remain one of the highest priority within Federation archeological community.
Colonial era
Perhaps the most influential event of the Federation Territories would be the arrival of the Eluthanians from the great beyond, Eluthania and Marylander Archive, while largely corrupted if not damaged due to time, do give insight a little about the Eluthania origins, the data claim that the Eluthania came from the stars, equipped with advanced technology, perhaps this is the explanation for the technological boom in the 1600s. Often referred as the Merian Technological revitalisation. This saw the decrease in magical technologies, which were inferior to the Eluthania technologies at the time.
The technological boom saw the creation of modern roads infrastructure, still in use to this day, as well shipbuilding, heavy machinery and industrialised agriculture, all created by the Eluthania Colonial Administration.
With the arrival of Eluthania and it's many advanced technology. Öknen Empire would attempt to conquest the newly founded country, only to be defeated by the superior Eluthania rudimentary firearms and strange combat tactic. Armed with muzzle loaded black powder firearms known as muskets. The lighter ELuthanian Riflemen can easily decimate Öknen feared swordsmen and knights. Not to mention, their steel breastplate were proven, while efficient against musket, does not protect the wearer from brain-wrecking pain. Öknen suffered heavily during their conquest of Eluthania and in the end, had to sign a conditional surrender. Losing one-third of their territories to the Colonial Administration.
On another hand, the Ritterhof, who also tried to invade Eluthania. Fair much better, Seeing the defeat of Öknen Knights, the Chivalric order of Ritterhof disavowed their code of honour in return for crossbows, recurve bows and longbows. Which are superior to the Muskets wielded by the Eluthania Colonial Riflemen, as these muskets lose their accuracy at distance greater than 50m. Though it did not save them from suffering defeats after defeats due to Eluthania Cannons, which would render a walled fortress into dust given enough time and ammunition. However, Ritterhof did not suffer the humiliation like Öknen and signed a white peace with the Colonial Administration instead.
In the Colonial Administration, due to their lack of understanding when it comes to magic. Prosecution against magic wielders, who are viewed with distrust and hatred saw many of them fled to the now weakened Öknen Empire. The prosecution were harsh and often inhumane. Public capital punishment were common to those who could wield magic. Ranging from burning on stake, beheading, hanging or even stripped naked and put on a stake so they froze to death in the northern regions of the Administration.
In the end, the Administration's superior technologies as well innovative architecture did not save them from destruction, lasting 68 years. The Administration would be destroyed from within. Decades of prosecution toward magic wielders, growing corruption and inefficient governance led to a unsuccessful coup d'etat led by the Wizards and Witches who fled the prosecution and were trained by Öknen. Saw the Administration caught in a devastative war with the now revitalised Öknen Empire. Only when the Ritterhof joining into the war on the side of ELuthania did the Colonial Administration started to turn the war into the favour.
However, in the end. The war's devastated and destabilised the Eluthania Colonial Administration, their excessive indulgence led to many critical infrastructure to fail, causing a uncontrollable unrest within it's held territories. The war only caused further unrest and in the end, the 68 years old government ceased to exist under the revolution led by none other, but a by the very own kin of the founder of the Colonial Administration, Under General Joseph Granite, the Colonial Administration were dissolved and replaced with the Confederation with him as the chairman, all of the occupied nations, cultures and formerly prosecuted magicians will be represented in this Senate.
Unfortunately, General Joseph Granite however would die of poisoning incident, the culprit was never found. The death of General Joseph Granite was the final nail in the coffin, the newly born Confederation could not decide upon a new chairman, which led to all the members to leave.
And so, with that. The end of the Colonial era under Eluthania Colonial Administration and later Confederation.
Independence era
With the fall of the Confederation, many nations broke off into independence, including Maryland, which was led by Joseph Granite's younger brother. Occupying former Eluthania Colonial Administration territories, Maryland was reformed as the United States of Maryland, consisting of several smaller states that did not declare independence. This era is known as the Age of Chaos, which led to the rise of many new nations, as well as empowering many former adversaries. While Maryland enjoyed a relatively short time of prosperity and peace, Öknen, who had been rebuilding under a new monarch, decided to subjugate the Solaire Confederation. Supported by the Ritterhof and its satellite states, such as Weideland and Mittelland, the Öknen-Solaire conflict was part of a series of proxy wars between the Öknen Empire and the Ritterhof Kingdom, until 1797 when Öknen and Ritterhof went to all-out war after Öknen invaded Mittelland. This event is recorded as the Great Imperial War.
To the north, the territories formerly under the control of Eluthania Colonial Administration prior to that broke off and formed Sapfirovaya, a loose administration of states based upon the system left by the Confederation. Lyukha, obviously not happy with such a resolution, invaded Sapfirovaya, beginning the First Sapiforovaya War for independence. Much of the Independence era history was simply conflicts after conflicts and conflicts. Decades of wars torn the region apart, and whatever infrastructure was left was either in ruins or in critical need of maintenance. Fighting over what little left of Eluthania technology stockpile was common. Even Maryland, the supposed successor of Eluthania, was stagnant in their technologies, with much left by Eluthania destroyed or forgotten.
For decades until 1834, the region was in a constant state of war until the arrival of the eastern merchants from Vorstheim, who arrived in Lyukha and Öknen. Speaking of a prosperous country to the north, far larger than this region, the arrival of the merchants from the east waged chaos within Öknen's Royal Court, seeking partition with Maryland, the only prosperous country within the region, along with Hesse Republic. The meeting of the five countries was the turning point of the Region. Although Lyukha, Ritterhof, and its satellite states as well as Sapiforvaya were not present, the presence of Maryland, long-time allies of Ritterhof and Hesse Republic, two of the most prosperous countries in the region, gave the peace meeting much authority required to force the other parties to cease combat and sit down. At first, only Öknen, Maryland, and Hesse Republic were present. They were then joined by Iwinui and Ranova afterward, and later, the first one of the opposition, Ritterhof, convinced by Maryland, joined the meeting as well. The last to join was Lyukha and Sapiforvaya who had to prematurely settle their dispute and join the meeting.
Öknen played the role of host, but it was Maryland that presented many innovative ideas for the region. Firstly, the idea of ceasing armed conflict between nations and the formation of the Coalition of Merian, where members of the Coalition could discuss disputes. Historians believe that the formation of the Coalition was the first step in laying the foundation for the Federation that exists today. Under Öknen's request, the formation of Meri-Corps was approved, where all nations would contribute their limited forces to protect themselves from potential foreign invaders. This was in response to the more advanced merchants from the north, who arrived with metal carriages that did not require horses. The formation of the Coalition marked the end of the age of chaos, with wars being ended and disputes settled. However, several major disputes continued to plague the Coalition, including the Sapiforvaya question in 1855, the Solaire-Öknen dispute in 1858, and the Mittelland dispute in 1860.
The Mittelland dispute was one of the most critical and almost caused the Coalition to fall apart. Mittelland was a satellite country under the control of Ritterhof, which were core territories of the Öknen Empire decades ago. When Öknen lost against the Ritterhof Imperial Army, Mittelland was taken from them. Instead of occupying Mittelland, Ritterhof formed a satellite regime to act as a buffer against the Öknen Empire. In the end, Maryland's representative offered a joint government, led by both Öknen and Ritterhof representatives, and both sides reluctantly agreed to the proposal.
This event was one of the many recorded deadlocks the Coalition faced prior to the 1961 Meria United Federation Proposal. While at first met with skepticism, members understood its benefits. It would take another 30 years to resolve many issues presented, including the issue of equality, the issue of the economy, the issue of infrastructure, many of which were still in ruins from decades of wars, as well as the lack of human living quality. Much of the region's citizenry still lived without clean water, food, clothes, or even houses. Heavy industries were limited to Maryland and Hesse Republic, whereas Iwinui and Ranova were the only countries with adequate agriculture to produce enough food for the entire region. Among the issues presented were the matters of bureaucracy, political differences, and the military issue. Maryland had the most advanced military forces, with bolt-action rifles, submachine guns, and a proper Navy, while everybody else still utilized muzzle-loaded muskets and sailing ships. Hesse Republic was the first to employ lever-action rifles in their Army. In the end, these issues were resolved peacefully, and the Coalition was preserved. In 1991, the charter was rectified, and the Modern Day Federation was born.

Climate
The Federation is home to a variety of climate.
To the northern frontier of Lyukha and Sapfirovaya is home to the eternal winter. Thanks to the Brown Mountain, the northern realm is stuck in perpetual cold, the region has four season: Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter. Snowfall begins in early Fall and ends in late Spring, Summer is the only season where there is relative warmth, however. Temperature, at it highest would only reach 25 Degree celsius.
Southern of the northern frontier is the Northern lands of Öknen and Solaire, unlike the extreme northern frontier, the northern lands enjoy far more suitable climate akin to tundra-temperate. It also possess four seasons, during summer, it's highest temperature is around 27 Degree celsius.
To the central plain realm, home to Maryland, Weideland, Iwinui, Saint Maria, Erion and Mittelland is of diverse climate, to the northern part of the central plain, a mixture of tundra and temperate climate, whereas to the south is temperate and tropical. Central Plain remain one of the most diverse region, home to many type of faunas thanks to it's unique climate, being in the center of the Federation. Thanks to it's harmonious climate, the central plain is also one of the most fertile and easiest to grow crops, turning it into the home to many of the major food providers within the Federation.
To the western fringe lies the Hesse Republic. The mountainous realm of the western, blocking the hot winds of the great desert allowing the western fringe to be a cool, yet warm region. Akin to temperate climate. Much like other regions, it's possess four seasons.
To the southern expanse is the home of Ranova and Ritterhof. The Southern expanse is known for it's lack of four seasonal climate, extreme temperature and diverse biofauna as well home to many exotic tropical fruits. Perhaps what's known the most is the rain season, where the marshlands would flood, nowaday. These flooded marshlands are some of the largest farmland for rice cultivation in the Ranova Socialist Republic. Meanwhile, Ritterhof. Border the central plain and the southern fringe, giving it's a rather unique circumstance. One could enjoy the coolness of the northern provinces of Ritterhof or the hot, tropical beaches of the southern provinces in Ritterhof.

Government and politics
The Federal Constitution adopted in 1991 is the legal foundation of the United Federation. No changes have yet been made to the original Constitution. It's outlines the rights of individuals and citizen participation in public affairs as well divide the powers between the Federal Government and the Member States as well defines Federal Jurisdiction and authority.
Three main bodies govern the nation: The Legislative Federal Council, The Executive Federal Government and the Judicial Federal Supreme Court. In addition to the bodies that govern the nation is the legal protector of the Constitution, the Constitutional Federal Armed Forces. The De-facto govern body of the nation as dictated by the Constitution when the civil-bodies fails or ineffective to maintain their power.
Triumvirate
While the Federal Armed Forces has no involvement in the governance of the Federation, they however. Has a voice within the Federation. This is known as the Triumvirate system.
The Federal Council and the Federal Government are responsible for the well-being and the safety of the United Federation's citizens as well member State. The Military, acting as advisory body to the Council and Government is a reminder of the Constitution.
Referred in the Constitution as the "Protector Of The Federation", The Armed Forces of the Federation has full authority to remove a Federal-elected representative of the Council or Government if found to be inefficient, harming the Federation or outright violating the Constitution of the Federation. The Armed Forces work closely with the Federal Supreme Court for interpretation of the laws.
Within the Government, the Military is represented by the Chairman Of The Joint Chief Of Staff of the Armed Forces as advisor to the Federal Council and Federal Government. He is a direct subordinate to the Commander-In-Chief (President) and the Secretary Of Defence. However, this relation is more of a cooperative relation than superior-subordinate relation.
Federal government
The Federal Government is the executive branch of the United Federation and regulated by a system of checks and balances defined by the Constitution. The President serves a five-year term and may be elected to the office no more than twice. The President is not elected by direct votes like the Legislative counterpart, the Councillors but by the Federation's Legislative branch: The Federal Council, where the Councillors will hold a vote of confidence internally to determine the President of the Federation.
The President is the commander-in-chief of the Federal Armed Forces, can veto legislative bills before they become law (subject to Council Override), and appoints the members of the Cabinet (subject to Council approval) and other officers, who administer and enforce laws and policies through their respective agencies.
The President cannot appoint any military leaders without the presence and approval of the Federal Council.
Federal council
the Federal Council is a unicameral legislative body that comprised of one Councillor from every Federation Member State, Currently there is 13 Councillors who are elected under a system known as Public election where citizens may freely vote for the representative of their choice. Councillors serve part-time for 6 years. Citizens may propose referendums and challenge any law passed by the Council and, through initiatives, introduce amendments to the Federal Constitution. Thus making the Federation a direct democracy.
Federal supreme court
In the United Federation, The Federal Supreme Court's function is to interpret laws passed by the Council and hear appeals against rulings of Federal Council or Federal Government. These Member States retain semi-independent from the Federal Government. As per Federation Charter, the Member States will rule from their capital city. They handles most internal affairs of their respective nation as well handle social and economic affairs of the Federation. All Member States are represented within the Federal Council.
These Member States holds no territories and has no authority over the matter of the Federation and other services which are provided by the Federal Government, However. They do maintain full political freedom within the capital city of their country when they was independent. They are allowed to maintain a small ceremonial armed forces as well guards for their royals if said nation was previously a monarchy (Such cases of Erion and Öknen). Where their royal monarch are allowed to continue their rule as figurehead, holding no authority. Of which were given to the Councillor.
These Administrations, referred by their National names. Such as Ranova State Administration. Are led by a Councillor, who represent the people of the country that are now member of the Federation. They handle many affairs, mostly the basic to the luxury. During the early days of the Federation, these Administrations were essential to the Federation. They allows the Federation to gather what the Citizens need most, from the most basic need such as electricity, water, infrastructure to the luxury needs of jobs, housing, healthcare, etc.
These Administrations also helps the Federation understand their member's culture difference, strengths and weaknesses to allow a greater economic and social cooperation.
Today, these Administrations represent the unity and cooperation among the members of the Federation.

Historically, the Federation avoids alliances and organisation that entail military, political or direct economic actions. The Federation has remain neutral since the unification in 1991 and retain it's self-imposed isolationism policy until 2000, where it's opened it doors to the world for the first time in it's history.
The Federation, while was isolated maintain a established structure of foreign relations and as of currently, is one of the world largest diplomatic corps. The Federation is currently attempting to establish formal diplomatic missions with all independent, recognised countries in the world, starting with their continental neighbours of Voytana. Missions is also being expected to arrive in Tengerina within reasonable time frame.
Military
The Federal Armed Forces consist of four professional service branches: The Federal Army, The Federal Air Force, The Federal Navy and the Federal Marine Corps. The Armed Forces Of The Federation are managed by the Department Of Defence and controlled by the Joint Chief Of Staffs, chaired by Chairman Of The Joint Chief Of Staffs, of which the President Of The United Federation is the Commander-In-Chief of and appoint it civilian leader, the Secretary Of Defence. The Joint Chief Of Staffs are appointed internally by the Federal Armed Forces, selecting the most experienced officer within it ranks of the respective service branch as it commander. Once selected, the President and the Council will review the profile of the candidate and discuss the appointment of the officer as a member of the Joint Chief Of Staffs.
The Department Of Defence, as well the Joint Chief Of Staffs is headquartered in the Pentagon Forces Headquarter in New Venezia, where it manage the affairs of the four service branches, of which the Department Of Defence handle Civil and the Joint Chief Of Staffs handle military affairs.

The United Federation spent $400 billion on it's military in 2000. The Federation spends at least 4.7% of it GDP on it military annually.
In 2000, all four branches of the Federal Armed Forces reported 1.14 Million personnel on active duty. The Reserves of the four branches, the Coast Guard, The Border Guard and Federal Guard brought the total number of troops to 3.66 Million personnel. As of current, the Federal Forces can be rapidly deployed by the Air Force's massive fleet of strategic airlifters, the Navy's 4 active aircraft task groups and Marine expeditionary groups with the Navy, and the Army's 1st Airborne Corps deployed by the Air Force Airlifters. The Air Force can strike any targets across the globe through it's fleet of strategic bombers and ballistic missiles. The Air Force also maintains air defence across the United Federation as well provides close air support to the Army and Marine Ground elements.
The Air Force also operates the Federation's advanced STARLINK Command and Control System, the Global Positioning System, the Eastern and Western Voytana Expanse for all space launches and the United Federation's Aerospace surveillance and Missile Warning Networks ASMWN. The Federal Armed Forces operates about 600 bases and facilities domestic.
In addition to the Federal Armed Forces, a paramilitary organisation known as the Meria Foreign Legion also exist. Although not officially a member of the Federation's Military. The Foreign Legion has participated in many foreign conflicts, as since they are not officially part of the Military. They does not have to abide by the Constitution of the Federation. The Foreign Legion often works in-hand with the branches of the Federal Armed Forces.
Legionnaires of the Foreign Legion are highly trained soldiers and the Legion is unique in that it is open to foreign recruits of any country, regardless of background or politics. Thus the Foreign Legion has been the closest way to secure a asylum in the Federation.
Legionnaires are often political opposition, slaves, oppressed citizenry, scholars, orphans, refugees and activists escaping from war, occupation, oppression. Either by foreigners or by their own nation.
While a paramilitary and often questioned by foreign nations if they are Private Military Company due to the Federation utilising as a tool to loophole their own Constitution as well maintain plausible deniability related to their involvement in foreign conflict. The Federation has began to open it door to foreign enterprises, it is currently under a Three Year Economy Plan with the goal of economic growth and stability for it's citizens.

In the United Federation, all infrastructures are part of the Federal Construction Company (FCC) who oversee the investment and development into public transportationl. The Federation has invested heavily into it's transportation infrastructure. The Federation has approximately 2.000.000 kilometres of roads made up of 1.920.000 kilometres of city, town and village roads, 80.000 kilometres of Federal expressways as of 2000.
The United Federation's expressways does not have speed limit nor tollbooths.
For railway, the Federal Rail Administration (FRA) operate high-speed rail passenger transportation as well cargo transportation regionally and locally. Maximising delivery speed and safety.

Facilities in the Federation must meet the Department Of Housing and Urban Development's requirement, school facilities must include a yard, swimming pool, outdoor sports facilities, gymnastic building, at least two four to six story main complex, parking space and a service complex where theaters and assembly hall are located. Classrooms are mandatory to be equipped with ceiling fan as well air conditioner, all members of the school faculty must have basic knowledge of computer operations.

The flag of the United Federation Of Meria is the North Star Banner. (also referred to as the Federal Star). It was created in 1550 by artist Sir Bob Douglas Jones. Member of the United States Of Maryland on behalf of Sir Richard Granite, Chairman Of the Meria Coalition, predecessor to the Federation. The flag consist of the North Star, representing the Federation as the shining guiding light. The six smaller stars represent the members of the Federation, in the shape of a circle, symbolising unity, singularity and harmony, guided by the North Star.
Within the Federation are the thirteen member nationstate with their respective national flag. It is often flown along with the Federal flag.
