The Meridian Socialist Union, commonly known as Meridia is a sovereign state in Western Meridia. With a population of over 76 million, Meridia is the most populous country in Amuria. The head of state is President Daniel Freeman while the head of government is General Secretary Rafael Marcos. Meridia is comprised of two federal cities and thirteen states.

The territory that is now Meridia was inhabited by various indigenous groups such as the Anacostan, Lenape, Mashantucket, Haudenosaunee, and Abenaki. The Angaliad colonization of the region began in the 16th century as [English], [German], and [Spanish] settlers founded colonies in the Meridian west. [England] emerged as the dominant power in the region during the 17th century. Political and economic disputes between the Meridian colonies and the [English] government led to the declaration of the Meridian Republic and the outbreak of the First Meridian Revolution in 1756. The First Revolution ended with the Treaty of Arrohattoc in 1761. The Meridian Republic spent the remainder of the 18th and 19th centuries expanding across the continent through the displacement of Meridian tribes and the conquest and settlement of neighboring lands.

The Meridian Republic outlawed slavery in 1821. The Meridian economy emerged as one of the most powerful in the world due to the industrial revolution. The collapse of the stock market in 1927 led to an economic depression that resulted in the disintegration of the economy. The Meridian Civil War started in 1933 when a group of military leaders led by General Andrew Marshall staged a fascist coup against the Meridian Republic. During the war, the National State of Meridia fought against various socialist and anarchist worker movements and the remnants of the Army of the Republic. Marshall's government collapsed after his forces were decisively defeated at the Battle of Anacostia in 1938.

The restoration of the Meridian Republic was followed by the Second Meridian Revolution which ended on 1 May 1939 when the Meridian International, a coalition of the Industrial Workers of the World, the Socialist Party of Meridia, and the Black Liberation Movement collectively led by Sam Hudson declared the foundation of the Meridian Socialist Union in Hudson City. After Hudson's death in 1953 Meridia transitioned from a De Leonist planned economy to market socialism.
