New Hope is a city in the Janapan Isles, with a population of around 96,000. The city is located in a low-lying coastal marsh on the main island of New Janah. New Hope was founded as a Quetanan silt and clay mining outpost in 1599, but was reestablished as a formal planned city in 1930. New Hope is a rapidly growing city with its important iron, steel, aluminum and hydroelectric industries. It is a popular tourist destination, known for its music, cuisine, shops, and beaches. Many cruise ships, including Janapa's Belette Cruise Lines, stopover or anchor in the city. Due to its planned nature, the city has a drastically different feel from many other Northern Cantalle Islands cities. Many of the residential neighborhoods have architecture and landscaping that are similar to suburbs in Zamastan from the 1950s through 1980s, such as subdivisions and 'cookie-cutter' homes, neatly-paved sidewalks, and manicured, patterned lawns. The city has several professional sports teams, most notably the NCFL club Hope City FC which plays at Dowdeswell Stadium.
