Niater, officially the Free State of Niater, is a landlocked country in central North Thrismari. It is bordered by Kelvieslav to the north, Aberilia to the west, Saukania, Zangoaistan, and Ola Naathim to the south, and Ar-Sayhurbah and Eastern Yuguistan to the east. Niater is a climate-diverse and mountainous state, with the north housing the Nordgipfel mountain range, and being classified as tropical, and the south being home to the Zuidpeak mountain range. It also shares a border with the Kristallsee, which it shares with Ar-Sayhurbah. Niater had an estimated population of over 101.3 million people in 2023. What is now present Niater was home to many states, duchies, and territories, which were for the most part, fractured. Niater was only re-united recently following the events of December 1989, where a popular uprising successfully overthrew the government of West Niater and united with East Niater to form the modern state of Niater today. The federal and national capital and largest city of Niater is Württemberg, with Haarlem being designated as a federal city and is the de jure second capital of Niater.

Niater is a federal republic and parliamentary democracy. Niater is divided into four constituent nations, comprised of Niater, Patec, Meercovo, and Oranjestaat. As a federal republic, Niater delegates power on both the National and Local level, with Patec, Meercovo, and Oranjestaat having a First Minister, and their own parliaments. Niater is the only constituent nation that does not have a First Minister or seperate parliament, being directly governed by the Federal Assembly in Württemberg and the current Chancellor and Vice Chancellor of Niater. Niater is also the only constituent nation that is further divided into states, with their own State Governor and State Parliament (Landtag, Staatsparlement, Parlamento ng Estado). In total, there are 16 federal states (Bundesland, Staat, Estado). Niater comprises a combined area of 123,456 km2 (12,345.67 sq mi) and is home to just over 101.3 million (as of 2023 estimates). Most of the country's population is spread out, even in more arid and mountainous areas. Württemberg is home to a large majority of the Niaterisch population in Niater, one of the two Germanic ethnicities in Niater, while Haarlem is home to a large majority of the Niaterse population, the second Germanic ethnicity of Niater. Other major cities are Patekku, Meercovia, Matteustad, which are the national capitals of Patec, Meercovo, and Oranjestaat respectively.
