Operation Thunder War (Unternehmen Donnerkrieg) is the name of several planned operations against Librira by the Englean Empire during the Cold War. Unlike many plans developed previously by the Imperial Army, Donnerkrieg was aimed at total annihilation of the Libriran nation. Created by Generaloberst Leopold "der alte Dämon" von Windisch, commander of the Imperial Air Force from 1950 to 1970, it was the general's response to a request by Wilhelm III to find a way to defeat the Librirans. He was quoted with saying "The only way to defeat communism is to wipe away its existence." Within Operation Donnerkrieg, the entire Englean nuclear arsenal would be used against Libriran targets - civilian and military. The most notable portion of the operation was the integration of the concept of "nuclear carpet bombing" stated within Donnerkrieg I and II. These plans were continuously updated nearly every decade until being canceled by Emperor Konrad in the 1980s due to the plans being "too overwhelming for both nations."
