The Pioneerstaat (commonly abbreviated as PS), often still referred to as Maria, is a province occupying a portion of the southern coast of Satavia. It is bordered to the north west by the Central Territory, to the north and east by the Hope Province, to the south east by Lookaway Bay, to the south west by the Roebuck Bight and to the west by New Borland. With a total land area of 83,902 square kilometres it is the third largest province.[N 1] With a population of 2,701,421 it is the fourth most populous province. Its capital and largest city is Bloemstad.
