Ravetta is a major city in the Blackhelm Confederacy and former city-state on the southern coast of Hesperidesia. The city was also formerly the capital of the Kingdom of Ravetta before that nation was absorbed into the Empire of Exponent during the Coastal Crusade.

History

Founding of Ravetta

When the first Roman landings were made in 68AD near present day Paradise City, many of the survivors decided to seperate and go their own ways. Of the original 1,500 refugees, roughly four hundred decided to head west from the landing zone, with most establishign themselves in the city that would become Divinity. Of this group, a smaller band of about 150 people continued further west along the coastline before finally settling down around a natural harbor to create the city of Ravetta in 69 AD.

In the years to follow, word of a safe haven for Roman Christians got back to Europe, and the numbers of settlers in Ravetta - as with the other early settlements at Paradise City, Divinity, and Redemption, steadily grew. In total, three successive refugee waves would come to Hesperidesia - including that of the original settlers - and by 100AD the small town had grown to a population of nearly 800 people.

Emergence As A City State

When the Empire of Exponent collapsed in 1996, the city of Ravetta - as most other major cities and provinces - proclaimed independence and established itself as a city state, annexing all of the surrounding Ravetta Province, as well as the neighboring province of Lucerna.
