The Acrea consists of 15 constituent regions which, while not truly sovereign in any capacity, do have a degree of administrative and legislative autonomy. The regions are divided between Daneland and Gothaland, the two main territories that constitute Acrea. Though these two territories have no administrative function, they are very historically and culturally significant and organise regions largely along linguistic lines with regions within Daneland being primarily Dane-speaking, while regions within Gothaland are primarily German-speaking.

Politics

In the national government, regions are represented in the lower house of the Reichstag, the Landtag. Seats within the Landtag are granted based on a region's population, and are referred to as mandates. During a regional election cycle, mandates are distributed to each party in a way determined by the percentage of the vote each party receives. In addition to the mandated seats, a region can also be granted overhang seats. This is done when a party's percentage of the vote is above a certain percentage threshold, or within a certain percent of being granted another seat. The use of overhang seats is intended to ensure the most effective representation of that party's share of the vote.

The legislative assembly of each region is known as the Landtinget. The regional legislatures, while they have an immense degree of autonomy in their ability to draft law within their respective regions, are subordinate to the Reichstag. Regional law is unable to contradict national law, however national law is regarded as a "minimum standard" by which all regional law must abide. The jurisdiction of a Landtinget can include business regulations, traffic laws, education, and so forth. In addition to their own legislatures, each region is responsible for the formation of its own police agency which, just like their legislatures, is subordinate to the national police.
