The Republic Of Stallmore, Commonly refered to as simply Stallmore or RoS, is an sovereign nation situated in the west of the continent of Klafordon. The Republic of Stallmore includes the islands of Stallmore and Heronda; it additionally maintains control of multiple off-shore territories with varying degree's of self-governence. The Republic of Stallmore does not border any other nation, and is surrounded by the Kliper sea and Ferdafon Ocean. The total area of the Republic of Stallmore is 176,392 square miles; it is estimated to have a population of over 98 million people.
The Republic of Stallmore is a unitary semi-presidental democracy. The capital and largest city is Jefston, with a population of over 14.7 million; it is a major global city. Other major cities in the nation include Plin, Iteros, treward and Olfan. Heronda has devolved government with minor authority.
Government and politics
The Republic of Stallmore is a unitary Semi-Presidential Republic; as of present the Governor is Kilth Perin and the Cheif Advisor (to the Governor) is Lia Kaths. The Republic of Stallmore has a codified consitution which can be ammended by a referendum approved by 55% of registered voters or by 60% approval in both Chambers of the Republic and further approval by decree of the governor.
The Republic of Stallmore elects it's Governor every 5 years, using the Alternative voting system. Parties often hold primaries for these positions however, this is not required by law and parties may appoint candidates if they chose or feild more than one. The Governor gets a partial veto over any legislation passed in the Chambers of the Republic however, they can only send legislation back to the chambers for ammendment.
Additonally, The Republic of Stallmore holds Chamber of the People elections every 3 years; where 340 individual Chamber Members (CMs) are elected in 340 constituencies. In the last elections, The People Together Alliance won a plurality and current governs with a confidence and supply agreement with the Common Workers Party. Chamber of the Peers elections are held every 6 years; where 185 Peers (CPs) are elected in 37 different counties all receiving 5 CPs each.
