The Reynish Brotherhood is a organization of states descended from Reynland, currently occupied by Altenland. Founded by Carolina and Jeremiah in 1934, the Brotherhood seeks to make war against Altenland and liberate Reynland from Altish control. In response to the Grand Coalition, at the time headed by Auvernia and the Holy Aventine Empire, refusing to react to Altish reoccupation in 1934 following the outbreak of an Altish-backed valkist coup in the country.

Carolina is a former Reynland colony and was occupied by Altenland during the conquest of southern Nymera. During the War of the Grand Coalition, the Reynish population of the colony revolted, reforming the colony under the leadership of the deposed Royal Family of Reynland who were in exile in Hercynia at that time. It is rumored that Carolina is responsible for funding and arming the Reynish Citizens Guard, a rebel group in occupied Reynland. Jeremiah is a state in Hibernia that is descended from a largely Reynish community of Mormon pilgrims, founded after a rebellion against the ruling Catholic Vesperan authority. After the fall of Reynland, a large number of Reynish citizens fled to Jeremiah, including the leader of the Seraph, the primary milita of the Republic, Jonah Black. Black is directly responsible for convincing Jeremiah Ridgdon, the President of Jeremiah to join the Reynish Brotherhood.

As of 1935, the Reynish Brotherhood has begun to stockpile weapondry in Carolina. King James V, the King of Reynland has begun talks with the Holy Aventine Empire on the subject of the Northern Coalition member states military buildup and rumors spread that Carolina plans to invade the Altish colony of Ruhenland alongside volunteers from Jeremiah.
