The Royal Armed Forces of Ajerrin is divided into three combat branches, the Navy, Army, and Air Force. In addition to the combat branches the Office of Military Intelligence and the Military Services Division are uniformed parts of the Ajerri military. The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ajerri is the Head of State, the King or Queen of Ajerrin, though that is mostly a traditional role. The Department of Defense is run the by the Minister of Defense, a political position appointed by the Head of State and is a permanent cabinet member. The Chief of General Staff is Admiral Makai and is the highest ranking active officer is the Royal Military. The Defense Council makes many of the day to day decisions for the military and is made up the senior defense officials from all the tribal states. The Kingdom is generally a peaceful nation and attempts to use diplomacy over force when possible, but the military is seen as necessary for the nation to survive, especially the Navy.

The Department of Defense also oversees the Office of Military Intelligence which serves as the nations' intelligence service. The Department of Defense employs about 184,500 civilians and about 490,500 soldiers and is based in Koamalu. The current military service ages are 18-35. Prior to Queen Lani, the Ajerri Military was based on the ancient idea of conscription for males stating at the age of 18. All males served for one year, unless the decision to become a professional military person, and would be part of the Royal Ajerri Reserve Force for a total of 15 years. The Reserve Force is currently made up of about 2,100,000 soldiers. As of September 21st, 2017, the Ajerri military will be volunteer-only. The reserve force will shrink to 400,000 soldiers while the standing force will shrink to 360,000 and 112,000 civilian personel.

The Royal Navy

The Navy is the most important branch of the military as the Kingdom is a maritime nation and places great importance on the safety of the seas. The oldest branch of the Kingdom military, it currently has about 152,460 people on active duty. The Navy is made up of sailors and marines and is tasked with defending the islands of the Kingdom, guarding it's territorial waters and fighting abroad in conflicts. The Navy is seen as the most important and most prestigious branch of the military due to Ajerrin's maritime history. The Ajerri Royal Navy is comprised of xx ships. The Navy maintains several bases the most important of which are Kaikoa Naval Base in Ajerr'i on the main island and Waiolani Naval Base in Endik'i. All royal navy ships use the ship prefix: ARS which stands for Ajerri Royal Ship. Admiral Aukai is the current commander of the Royal Navy.

The city of Kaikoa in Ajerr'i is home to Kaikoa Naval Base, the largest base operated by the Royal Navy and is home to the basic training for all enlisted personnel. The base is also home to the naval dry docks, where the royal fleet is repaired and upgraded. Kaikoa is also where the Royal Naval Academy is located, all 21,300 navy officers are schooled at the academy. Other major bases include the Waiolani Naval Base in Endik'i and the Hali Naval Base in Tonagoni.

Organization and Structure

The Ajerrin Navy is broken up into naval regions and established for the purpose of decentralizing the Naval Department's functions with respect to control the coastwise sea communications and shore activities outside the department, and for the purpose of centralizing under one command: a) naval activity, and b) all naval activities with specific exceptions, within the district and waters thereof. The limits of naval districts extend seaward so far as to include the coastwise sea lanes. Each naval district is commanded by a designated commandant, who is the direct representative of the Navy, in all matters.
