The 1st Royal Dane Regiment is a unit of the Acrean Army. It consists of eight infantry battalions, an armoured battalion, and an artillery battalion, as well as attached support battalion with medical, engineer, and signals companies attached. Originally stood up as a defensive regiment to be permanently stationed in Daneland, it was transformed into the only solely Nordic-speaking regiment by 1931, and granted the same status as other elite, special infantry units of the Acrean Army such as Jagdkommandos (Rangers), Stoßtruppen, and Fallskjermjäger. This status persists into the present day. Today, aside from its historical prominence, the regiment plays an important role as being able to operate more effectively in any of the numerous states in Eracura where Nordic-derived languages are spoken such as Delkora, Æþurheim, and Nordkrusen, as well as being experts in operating in the terrain and cold climates of northern Acrea and northern Eracura.

History

Organisation

In addition to their numerical designations, the combat battalions of the Dane Regiment use a similar practice to other elite regiments of the Acrean Army with individual battalions adopting unique names. Despite still being called a regiment, this is considered a legacy title and the unit is of division strength, and is regarded as a division in the Acrean Army's order of battle. The order of battle of the Royal Dane Regiment is as follows:

  • 1st Battalion
  • 2nd Battalion
  • 4th Battalion
  • 5th Battalion
  • 6th Battalion
  • 7th Battalion
  • 8th Battalion
  • 9th Battalion
  • 11th Battalion
  • 1st Armoured Battalion
  • 5th Armoured Battalion
  • 1st Support Battalion
  • 3rd Support Battalion

Although nominally being an infantry battalion, the 7th Battalion is organised as a heavy mechanised battalion with integral armour and cavalry companies.
