SalamAir Flight 243 incident occurred on August 12 1980, the last day of Ramadhan 1400 AH. The incident involved a Boeing 727 and the Salamati military. The Boeing mistook the Ankur-North Airport, which recently switched to a military airport, for the Ankur-South Airport. All of the passengers were killed.
The pilot of the aircraft was Hilal Al Jabbar, which totalized 2104 flight hours while the copilot Yunis Al Kharrabi, diplomed on April 12 1974, totalized 1039 flight hours.
