Samia Ouyahia (born May 21st, 1966) is a Zamastanian journalist, activist, and politician serving as the chairwoman for the Progressive Party since 2019. She is the first Muslim leader of a federal political party in Zamastan. Born and raised in Blairmore, Redeemer’s Land, Ouyahia's parents were immigrants from Behinia who settled in Zamastan. In the 1990s, Samia joined the editorial board of the Moulins Sun, winning many awards for her opinion peices and investigative articles which largely focused on gender discrimination. Known for her transformational impact in her organizations and the broader journalism community, Samia became one of the experts chosen by the Progressive Party in 2013 as a member of their 'Advisory Panel for Diversity and Inclusion' as a result of her advocacy for women's rights, her efforts for women empowerment, as well as for being a fierce defender of electoral women quota. She was elected chairwoman in 2019 to replace outgoing Rand Garrit.
