Sara I (Sara Cynthia Black, born October 7th, 2001) is the Empress of Bearstin and Royal Protectorate of Coytey.

Sara was born on October 7th, 2001 to Lucius Black and Cynthia Coytia as their first child. Her father was the heir-apparent of Bearstin and her mother was the daughter of the Lord of Coytey. She was born during the tumultuous Rebellion Era. Her father served as the Lord Commander of the Royal Guard and was present at the gates when a rebel task-force breached the city gates on April 6th, 2005. While the attack was repelled, he was killed in the fighting and Sara became the Heir-Apparent.

Her grandfather, Luke II, would eventually crush the rebellion and abdicate in her favor to ensure lasting peace. She was coronated on October 22nd, 2019, and later was given the special title of Royal Protectorate of Coytey, which was last held within House Black by her Great-Great-Grandfather Darius I. On May 25th, 2020, she married Thomas Gray, an old school friend and son of the Supreme Commander of the Bearstinian Forces and Great-Great-Nephew of the late Frederick Wilson, her grandfathers former Regent.

Early Life

Sara Cynthia Black was born at 1:03 PM BT on October 7th, 2001 during the reign of her paternal grandfather, Luke II. Her father, Lucius Black was the first son of her grandfather, and heir apparent to the throne. Her mother was the daughter of the Protectorate of Coytey, Lord Wallace Wolvace. She was delivered through a natural birth which took ten hours at the maternity ward in the Imperial Palace. She was baptised at the Royal Church of Bearstin on November 23rd, 2001, and named Sara after her mothers old school friend who had died at the beginning of the Twilight Rebellion.

She was described by her grandfather Luke II as being an intelligent girl, and a capable leader when called upon. Her father in-law described her as being compassionate when needed, but more than capable of laying down the law and maintaining an authoritative presence.

Twilight Rebellion

When Sara was three years old, the Twilight Rebellion broke out. The rebels managed to seize a couple towns around the capital and they eventually launched a major strike on the Imperial Palace on April 6th, 2005. Unable to use air strikes or artillery for fear of damaging the city, her father led the Palace Guard and the Bearstinian Commandos into battle against the rebel fighters. Her father was shot in the abdomen by rebel fighters and died eighteen hours later in the Imperial Palace soon after getting word that the rebel force had been repelled.

The death of her father saddened the now heir-apparent and the birth of her brother, Lucio Black, ten weeks after the death of her father did little to ease her pain. Her grandfather, Luke II, enraged by the death of his only child, led a massive campaign against the rebels. When Sara was six years old, she began to attend the Royal Academy of Bearstin under heavy guard by her Grandfathers personal Palace Guards who were once led by her father. Along with the traditional cirriculum of most Bearstinian schools, she was also taught skills like leadership, military tactics, hand-to-hand combat, and marksman skills. Her grandfather had asked the instructors at the school to treat her like any other student despite her heavy guard. At age of fifteen, towards the end of the rebellion, Sara would accompany top military officials to battles and learn how to command. After the Battle at Riverington Heights, the rebel leaders went into hiding to rebuild their rebellion.

Engagement and Marriage

During her years of school, one of Sara's close friends was Thomas Gray, the son of the Bearstinian Supreme Commander and Great-Nephew of her grandfathers former regent, Frederick Wilson. They would eventually fall in love and in a rare occurrence for a modern leader, they became engaged when they were both seventeen. Her grandfather, Luke II, allowed the marriage due to the respect he had for his late regent, Fredrick Wilson and that of his Supreme Commander of the Bearstinian Forces, Darren Gray. The two would eventually get married on May 25th, 2020 after she was crowned Empress of Bearstin at the age of eighteen.

Reign

Luke's Abdication and Peace

On October 1st, rumors of another rebellion were swirling. Ever since the infant Luke II had been made Emperor by Frederick Wilson almost seventy years ago, many believed that Luke's reign was illegitimate given that the then Supreme Commander Wilson had meddled in the affairs of the royal lineage. Luke II, on national television, announced he would abdicate in favor of his granddaughter Sara if a promise to end hostilities was met by rebel leaders. Sara was loved by the people, and even the rebels wished no harm towards what they saw as a legitimate ruler who was not to be faulted for the actions of her grandfather. After Luke's abdication, Sara invited the rebel leaders to a neutral location despite protests from her grandfather and the palace guard.

In the Cardinalo Summit, she called for the rebel leaders to step forward. Upon meeting the rebel leaders, despite her resentment towards them for her fathers death, she offered to pardon them if they bowed before her and accepted her as the rightful ruler of Bearstin. The two sides worked out a settlement involving pardons for rebels and the return of rebel occupied cities.

Coronation

On October 22nd, 2019, Sara was officially coronated as the Empress of Bearstin amid continued peace talks between the rebels. On December 1st, 2019, impressed with her bravery in meeting with the rebels and respecting how she honored her word to not execute them, her father in-law abdicated his position of Protectorate of Coytey and she was given the title of Royal Protectorate of Coytey. This position had been last held by her Great-Great Grandfather Darius I, post-humously known as Darius the Great. With the respect of the Coytians vested in the royal family, and her position of Empress of Bearstin, the country was once again unified.
