Sephrane (Sephrine: Siurusa), officially the Republic of Sephrane (Sephrine: Rispobrka de Siurusa), is a sovereign nation in northern Arabekh, bordering Aramas and Araabyne to the east, and the Opal Ocean to the north. Overwhelmingly, the majority of the population of 35,182,000 lives along the country's coast and the banks of the River Lurius, with the large maritime port city at Iolias also functioning as the nation's capital.

With an enviable position on the northern Arabekhi coast, in antiquity Sephrane was home to the Hispasic-speaking Y'lis civilisation, which grew from a city-state into a great empire before fading from history, and being supplanted by the Fiorentine Empire. The Fiorentine province of Severentine was a breadbasket for the empire, the banks of the Lurius feeding half the empire alone. When the empire fell, Sephrane was conquered by the rising Irsadic Caliphate, and would remain in their position until the Hawid Empire succeeded them. The emergent Sephrine Emirate would become a major maritime power in the Opal and Asur seas.

Eventually, however, a mass Alydian uprising financed by the Asuran powers overthrew the Emirate in 1856, and the Principality of Sephrane took it's place. This principality soon found itself under the direct influence of the United Kingdom of Lhedwin, as the scramble for Arabekh intensified. In 1869 it was declared a protectorate of Lhedwin, and gradually lost it's independence. Sephrine soldiers took part during the Great War, in particular in the Arabekhi front against Aquidish Aramas. At the conflict's conclusion, Lhedwin was dismantled, and Sephrane was released as an international territory; a condominium between the great powers. By 1922 however, Aquidneck had established dominance in the colony, and effectively usurped it from the other powers. Though met with widespread condemnation, in the face of the rising Aeian Socialist Union it was largely overlooked.

Sephrane secured independence in 1952 in the aftermath of the Second Great War, following a short conflict with Aquidneck. Though the revolution was largely financed by the Aeian Socialist Union, Sephrane organised itself as a liberal democracy, along Asuran lines. From 1967 to 1970 the country was engulfed in a brief period of intense sectarian conflict between ethnic and religious groups. This was ended by the Nebligen Accords organised and mediated by Crylante, which reorganised the country along federal lines, with protections for ethnic and religious minorities in the country. After this, Sephrane emerged as a functioning democracy.

Today, Sephrane is a federal semi-presidential republic, operating a mixed economy, with a GDP (nominal) per capita of $10,637. The current President is Mbrosi Istatari, while the current Prime Minister is Savel Marelus. Sephrane is considered a minor power, and maintains positive relations with most neighbours. The country is a member of the World Educational and Cultural Organization and the Aeian Public Health Organization.
