The Stalas and Ismy Islands, officially the Federal Territory of Stalas and Ismy Islands, are a group of islands located in the Iaso Sea in Eastern Thrismari, south of Selasis Island. The islands consist of the main islands Stalas and Ismy, and the minor islands of Hiś, Alkya, and Qayisa. The islands' capital is Alsan. They are a territory of Kakland.
Prior to becoming a federal territory, it was a colony under the Kakish Colonial Government from 1701 to 1865, following the end of the Rothgardian Independence War in 1865 and was reorganized as a federal constitute before being reorganized once more as a federal territory in 1942.
History
For the majority of their history, the islands were uninhabited until around 12,000 bce with the arrival tribes from the Juxland region of Kakland. But around 4500 bce, the tribes disappeared from the islands from unknown causes. Historians theorize that the islands small size and limited resources caused the die off of the tribes.
Circa 3200 bce, the Ahian peoples traveling from modern day Tesjkvan Islands landed on what is now known as Ismy and Qayisa. Temporary settlements were set up and served as the staging grounds for the invasion of modern day Ahia. By 700 bce, the islands were abandoned by the last Ahian settlers in favor of better climate south.
By 1667, as Kakland was exploring the seas north, the islands were rediscovered by Aleko Sindma Ismy and Jaymes Stalas while on expedition to the coastline south of Bammvia and Rothgard. Both returned to Jahgajh to report their findings to queen Akeja Qwerteinheimer. She gave authorization to take an expedition team to scout the islands between 1668-1670.
By 1690 both of the main islands had port cities established for trade between nations in the Anchor and Riata Sea, such as the Salimid Caliphate and the Kingdom of R̆xṭh Kār̒disan. In 1701 the Colony of Stalas and Ismy was established by the queen. Each individual island was controlled by a colonial governor. Stalas and Ismy were both given to Jaymes Stalas and Aleko Ismy, respectively. Unfortunately Jaymes passed before he could receive his title to the island, but it was given to his grandson, Hinston Stalas, who would become the governor of the Rothgardia Colony in 1722.
The islands would be officially unified under one governorship in 1806. The islands would serve as the staging grounds for the First Rothgardian Independence War in 1812 and again in 1865 with the Second Rothgardian Independence War. By the Great War, the islands would serve as an important trade hub in eastern Thrismari and military port, and as well with the Balakhad War in the 1970s.
In 1990, 1999, and 2004, the islands were hit by devastating hurricanes that hurt the economy of the territories. In 2019 the islands faced multiple tropical storms that flooded the islands for days on end. In 2020 the islands won the Most Beautiful Place Awards.
