Stans Fides (/stɑːns ˈfidɛs/ Latin: stans fides, lit. 'standing faith') was a policy of religious protection offered to followers of the various beliefs in the First Nephite Empire, and later the Midian Kingdom. The protections were declared by Emperor Heriktos in 994 after taking the throne as a way to win public support from the southern Nephites and Lamanites. This policy would be enforced until the fall of the First Nephite Empire, and would eventually be fully revoked by King Veritucci in 1299. Its revokation would mark the beginning of the Christianization of the Deseretan region.
