The Supreme Court of Gristol-Serkonos (Latin: Suprema Curia, Nordic: Høyesterett, Kanienʼkéha: Hadíashëdahgwa’) (initialism: SCGS) is the final court of appeal in the United Kingdom and Constitutional Union of Gristol-Serkonos. It is responsible for all civil and criminal cases originating in the Constituent Kingdom of Gristol and the Constituent League of Serkonos. As the highest appellate court for these matters, it hears cases of the greatest public or constitutional importance affecting the country. The Court sits in the Édifice Arnaude Coste on the western grounds of the Palace of the People in Pontiac-Bernadotte.

Under the doctrine of parliamentary supremacy, the Supreme Court of Gristol-Serkonos has a limited powers in judicial review. It cannot overturn any primary legislation passed by Parliament or the Legislatures of the Constituent Countries. However, it can overturn secondary legislation if, for instance, found the legislation to be beyond the powers of the primary legislation. The Supreme Court may quash secondary legislation on the basis of unreasonableness.

Membership

Jurists appointed to the Supreme Court are appointed by the Monarchs on the advise of the Chancellor.

The Establishment of the Federal Supreme Court Act limits the appointment to persons who have been judges of a superior court or members of the bar for ten years. The position of Jurist-General is approved by the Legislatures of the Constituent Countries upon the advise of the Chancellor. Only when the Legislatures approved of the nominee can they be appointed by the Monarchs. By convention, appointments for the eight remaining Puisne-Jursts are divided between the two Constituent Countries.
