The Makedon-class was a class of fast battleship of the Navy of the Syaran Republic. The class was composed of four ships, the Unity of Effort, the Spirit of Faith, the Dawn Under Heaven, and the Faithful and Fervent. Manufactured from 1924 to 1934, only four were complete before the outbreak of the Siduri War.
The Makedon-class was designed alongside the Galania-class battleship but was intended to fufill the role of a faster, heavily armed ship that would compliment the slower Galania-class. Disagreement over its intended usage and role led to an uneven design period, with the final product falling short of the expectations set forth by the Syaran admiralty. Faster than the Galania-class, the Makedon-class was undermined by its significantly smaller size and weaker armaments. When initially produced it was originally labeled a battlecruiser by the Cacertians, and displeasure with its status led to the creation of the Zovahr-class.
A total of six were planned, but only four were completed by the outbreak of the Siduri War. As a fast battleship, the Makedon-class ships spent the early years of the war fighting in the Western Theater, with occasional forrays into the Sundering Sea. In July 1935 the Dawn Under Heaven was heavily damaged in engagements with the Cacertian Imperial Navy off the coast of Mansuriyyah, forcing it to spend nearly a year under repairs. The Unity of Effort and Faithful and Fervent were both present and subsequently sunk at the Battle of the Sabri Sea; the destruction of the former largely serving as the signal for the rest of the Syaran fleet to retreat. The remaining two battleships were withdrawn back to Syaran waters; the Spirit of Faith was later lost in the Battle of the Mansuri Sea. The sole survivor of the class, Dawn Under Heaven, survived until 1938 but was sunk when the Syarans scuttled their own fleet.
