The 1828 Famine was a famine in Anteria caused by the PLACEHOLDER pest.It affected the nations of Assumptaria,Plattinumand Jernborg. It occured from 1828-1832.

Cause of the Famine

The famine was caused by a preexisting pest that had existed in Assumptaria. Previously the PLACEHOLDER pest would inhabit the assumptarian countryside and then move to forest area to consume the plantlife however a rural estate boom had occured in Assumptaria which led to the pest changing it's natural behaviour to consume the crops of the assumptarian farmland. Because of this unusual change in behaviour happening so suddenly the farmers were not aware and not prepared for PLACEHOLDERS to begin to consume their crops.

Political And Cultural Effects of the Famine

The famine greatly shaped the national mindsets and character of all nations involved. Many significant cultural and political events happened as a direct result as the famine and they still shape the island today.

Morbh Go Lear

Morbh Go Lear is an assumptarian genocide of non-ilanean minorities in their 1836 borders. It was triggered by a growing belief that the famine was a conspiracy by the minorities of the nation at the time. This was reaffirmed by the fact that 89% of the farmers in Assumptaria at that time were belonging to a minority. The farmers were accused of hoarding food in order to starve the ilaneans.

Seokaol

Seokaol was a political movement in Assumptaria which pushed for the inclusion of all ilanean peoples to be guided under one state The reasoning behind the policy was that natives and minorities were untrustworthy and looking for an opportunnity to sabotage the ilanean populace on the island. This movement was present before the famine however the famine and the beliefs which followed after made the movement flourish.

Ilasphere Diplomacy Efforts

The growing political landscape in Assumptaria pushed for greater diplomatic efforts with ilaneans as the assumptarian public and political figures were beginning to believe that one could only trust their cultural family and that all those outside were untrusty or were secondary to the needs of the ilasphere (geopolitical term for ilanean nations)

The jernborgian government also reacted to the famine by attempting to reach out an olive branch to the ilasphere nations.

Tinnit Massacre in Jernborg

The jernborgian government, reacting to the severe effects of the famine and the minoritiy ethinicites in the farming community had decided to massacre the tinnit minority and have government-run witchhunts.
