The Armed Forces of Amador are the unified branches of military defense charged with protecting the sovereignty of the Alfar Imperium. The AFA consists of four major branches: the Grand Army of Amador, the Imperial Navy, the Imperial Air Force, and the Coastal Defense Force.

The four uniformed military branches each have assigned roles and domains critical to the integrity of the Imperium. The Army conducts land operations, whereas the navy and its subsequent branches conduct maritime operations such as littoral operations and power projection. The Air Force conducts aerial air operations, be it in hostile areas or to assert influence. The Coastal Defense force acts in a maritime function and closely works with the navy, though it also functions as a law enforcement agency in peace time situations and conducts peacekeeping missions in Amador's waterways.

The Armed Forces have played an integral role in Amador's history since its inception and throughout its many dfferent iterations over the millennia. They help to forge a sense of national unity through countless military victories over the centuries. In ancient times, the armed forces were chiefly responsible for helping to forge the empire of the Alfar that persists and thrives into the modern age. In the contemporary era, the armed forces have overseen a period of remarkable growth and prosperity for the nation.

The Armed Forces of Amador are considered one of the most technologically advanced and powerful in Gholgoth despite possessing a numerical disadvantage, with its primary focus currently centered on curbing Scandinvan aggressions. Because of its vast size, budget, and training, the armed forces possess significant powerful projection capabilities throughout the world among its territories and overseas bases. The Imperial Navy is the largest branch, followed by the Army, Air Force, and Coastal Defense Forces.

History

The history of the armed forces dates back millennia through various forms and organization. The Grandy Army of Amador is the oldest branch, followed by the navy, air force, and coastal defense forces. Historically, the armed forces were used to expand its territories and to curb and ultimately stall Scandin aggressions, if not outright drive Scandin forces away. The dragon was historically a means of ancient air power that drove and expand the nation at a rapid rate during periods of conquest. While their use in modern military machinations is no longer prevalent, the dragon was once the most feared war machine of the distant past.

The armed forces, in particular the Grand Army, have been the front line against Scandin aggressions since time immemorial. The Vismer Conflicts, a series of wars fought between 1000 - 1207 CE, saw the military fight against repeated Scandin invasions, with the Scandin forces at one point occupying much of the eastern lands of modern Amador. Led by the Grand Army and the renewed use of dragon fire, Amador was able to expel Scandin military forces from mainland Amador in 1207 CE, ending the Vismer Conflict, though tensions and the occasional scuffle persists into the twenty-first century.

In modern times, the armed forces primary operations center around the maintenance and protection of its civilians and territories, while also defending Amador's interest abroad. With the advent of a more interconnected world, the armed forces have expanding into its ally's borders, effectively establishing varying bases around the world. Amador's military forces, in particular the Imperial Navy, is currently engaged in combat operations in the Laefold War, an invasion of the Laefold Islands by Amador and its territory, Kva Norale in the Badlands Frontier.

Grand Army

The Grand Army of Amador are the land forces of the Imperium, the second largest and the oldest service in continuous service. Established millennia ago, the current structure of the army was established in 1950 following a series of revisions and restructuring. The Army operates a reserve force to compliment its main forces. The army is primarily responsible for conducting and maintaining land warfare operations.

The Army is organized under the Department of the Army, a sub-branch of the Department of Defense, a military department under the leadership of the Imperial Government. The army itself is led by a chief of land operations, of which the title of General of the Armies is conferred.

The Grand Army has several responsibilities, though its primary are to conduct and sustain land combat, join joint operations between varying branches and its allies, while focusing land power on destroying enemy land forces, occupying and securing gained territories, and breaking the will and heart of an adversary, be they a peer or not.

The Grandy Army details several areas of competencies for its numbers:

  • Sustained Land Combat
  • Combined Arms Operations
  • Robust Mechanized and Armor operations
  • Special Operations
  • Maintain theater of war advantage
  • Conduct land-based warfare
  • Maintain and carry out airborne operations
  • Integrate varying branch cohesion

Imperial Navy

The Imperial Navy is the Alfar Imperium's maritime forces and are responsible for defending the Imperium's interest abroad and locally, protecting its sovereign interests. The Imperial Navy operates an active and reserve force, while also being the primary component of maritime warfare operations for the Imperium.

The Imperial Navy is organized under the Department of the Navy, a sub-branch of the Department of Defense, a military department under the leadership of Imperial Government. The navy itself is led by a chief of naval operations, whom retains the rank of Admiral of the Navies.

The Imperial Navy has three primary goals in its operation:

  • Power Projection
  • Sea Control
  • Maritime Security

The Navy's main missions are as followed:

  1. Provide power projection capabilities through global strike systems to ensure the sovereignty of its mainland and territories abroad while also protecting key interest abroad through nuclear and conventual means; whilst providing capabilities in interception and interdiction, and maritime means.
  2. Establish, maintain, and defend home and international bases while supporting seaborne naval, land, air, and amphibious operations as required.
  3. Carry out nuclear operations as the need arises to support deterrence; includes nuclear maintenance, safety, and improving capabilities.
  4. Provide support for joint operations between varying branches, while also support and improving on existing naval operations.
  5. Conduct missile defense throughout its territories and in protection of its allies and naval fleets.

Surface Forces

The Amador Surface Fleets are the backbone of Amador's naval power, representing significant numbers of vessels and their logistical counterparts. Their primary mission is to project power through the use of carriers and arsenal ships while ensuring the integrity of Amador. Its primary means of doing this is through the operation of aircraft carriers, with Amador having a storied history of naval aviation. The carrier is the centerpiece of Amadorian combat power.

The surface fleet operates thousands of surface combatants, from destroyers and frigates to carriers and arsenal ships, to littoral vessels. Cruisers and destroyers often operate in conjunction with their fleet command to form a missile shield for anti-aircraft and anti-submarine operations. They also conduct sea control. The surface fleet also operates amphibious warfare ships to support amphibious operations.
