The band became known nationwide for their album Tom the Cannibale in 1987. The album that refers to Helmut Rommel's The Happy Cannibal Adventure from 1967, is considered today as their big breakthrough. Especially the song of the same name Tom the Cannibale, which is the first piece of music on the album, is one of the most successful and well-known songs of the band. In 1988 the Snow Bones released an English-language version of the song, which made the band internationally known.
