Tracham, formerly known as Tracom (an abbreviation for the Trade and Commerce company), is a borough of the city of Labrador. It was founded in 1528 when the New Anglian Trade Corporation, later known as the Labrador Trade and Commerce Corporation, bought a portion of land along the Talbot river, between Westcourt and St. Charles' Tower. As the area became developed and integrated with the rest of Labrador, it became a centre of international trade and finance, with the monarch guaranteeing the Trade and Commerce Corporation's rights to govern its area, which allowed for commerce to flourish. The borough became the financial heart of the nation, unrivalled until the development of the Old Dock further down the river in the 1980s.
