The Type 40 SMG or QMP-39 is a submachine gun produced jointly by the Autocratic East Europan Imperial Alliance and the Empire of Quenmin. It was copied from the Balambian Kpist/-31. Under the Imperials, it was given the name QMP-39 or Quenminesche Machinen Pistole 1939
When the Imperial forces first faced against Balambian troops in 1940, they found that the submachine guns they used were superior and often were capable of keeping infantry suppressed for a long time. After the performance by the 71-round Kpist/-31 and the 50-round M1928 Tommy SMG used by the Commonwealth forces, it was decided by the East Empire and Quenminese to copy the Balambian submachine gun. What came out was wooden-stock, selective fire-capable submachine gun. However, its shortcomings include that it was massively expensive to produce, was prone to jamming a lot, less accurate and less effective in long range.
