The Type 61 was a joint Lucian-Nihonjin and Gallian effort to produce a tank which was fitted for the use of the Nihonjin Armored Divisions in the Commonwealth Armies. It was too late to see service in the Second Europan War but saw service during the War of Lorican Aggression. The Type 61, along with the Centurion became the mainstay of the Commonwealth tanks until the Challenger arrived. However, It was not reliable as the Centurion but it was still reliable enough to be of use in all Commonwealth armies. It is retired in all of the Commonwealth nations except the UK, New Akiba and Nihhon-koku; In the UK, The Type 61 is still used by the Home Guard as well as the King's Own Nihhonese Hussars of Yorkshire. In New Akiba, It is the most common tank fielded by the New Akiba Army and continues to be modified. In Nihhon-koku, It is still in use for the Home Guard and some Army units. It is superseded by the Type 74.
