The Union Cup is the championship trophy of the Fluvannia Hockey League. Presented yearly to the league's playoff victor, the Cup has been awarded to the FHL's champion yearly since the league's inception; the lone exception being like the league's operations overall, awarding of the Cup was suspended during the Third Great War. Made of silver on a pedestal of maple, the Union Cup bears effigies of two hockey players flanking the main chalice. On the front face of the base, a plaque bearing the most recent championship team (including player names and coaching/administrative personnel) is installed. A similar plaque bearing the champion preceding the current holder is installed on the back. During the Union Cup Final, a relief scene of a hockey game is shown on the trophy's front side, with the most recent champion rotated to the rear in anticipation of a new holder. Smaller plaques listing only the names and years of winning teams adorn the two-layer base, with more recent winners on the top level. Each year, the oldest plaque is removed from the base, with the rest of the plaques rotated through. Including the most recent champions, the Cup has room for 26 plaques; as a result, the oldest plaque currently installed commemorates the 1996-97 CHAMPION TEAM.
Contrary to popular belief, the Union Cup is not named for the federal union of Fluvannia, despite the national unity felt in the wake of the Second Great War, around the time of the FHL's inception. Rather, it is named to honor the union of the best teams from various leagues around the nation into the FHL.
