The Krukow Brigade (Miersan: Брыгада Kруко́вскей; Brygada Krukówskiej), officially known as the Krukow Assault Batallion, also known as the Krukow Hussars, are a far-right paramilitary force located in West Miersa. It is formerly a detachment of the Miersan National Guard, it was founded in 2006 by Krzysztof Grygiel, who was the leader of the group until his assassination by Savader rebels in 2015. He was replaced Ferdynand Burski.
It was founded to patrol voivodeships such as Malomiersa and Swiecizar against Lemovician and Savader rebel groups such as the Savader People's Army and the Northern Lemovician People's Army. It has been used by the Miersan government in controversial attacks against opposition forces to the governments of Tomasz Kopernik and Jakub Lewkowicz. It has been used in anti-separatist operations alongside the police and national guard of Miersa. Their tactics have been accused of being brutal and a form of state-backed terror.
During events like riots and demonstrations, they have been deployed alongside law enforcement and used to crush dissent. They have been accused of being another wing of the government led by Zabowiazanie, even though it is owned by the far-right All-Miersan Corps political party, a close ally of Zabowiazanie. They are designated a terrorist group by the governments of East Miersa, Valduvia, and Champania.
History
During the 2006 Savader Uprising, the government of Miersa under Tomasz Kopernik approved the creation of a paramilitary force known that eventually became known as the Krukow Brigade. This force was used to help gain volunteers and use paramilitary tactics against the uprising in the region of Swiecizar.
It was first led by Krzysztof Grygiel, a politician and founder of the All-Miersan Corps, a neo-functionalist political party in West Miersa.
It would later be used in smaller anti-separatist, anti-crime, and anti-opposition operations. It's leader, Grygiel, would be assassinated by Savader separatists in 2015, although the circumstances of the assassination are still unknown to the public. He would be replaced by Ferdynand Burski, a member of the All-Miersan Corps and close ally of President Lewkowicz.
In 2019 during a second, smaller uprising of Lemovician and Savader separatists in Malomiersa, the group was used to crush this brutally, it would later be accused of ethnic war crimes against local Savader and Lemovician civilians. The group was against used in crushing dissent against mass protests that occured in Krada and other major West Miersan cities in 2021.
