Vilanja is the capital city and largest city of East Chanchajilla, followed by Mirinu. It is widely considered to be one of the most important cultural and financial centers in Western Euronia. It is located in a large valley in the high plateaus in the eastern portion of Chanchajilla, at an altitude of 2,240 meters (7,350 ft). The city has 16 alcaldías, formerly known as boroughs. The 2018 population for the city proper was approximately 7.9 million people, with a land area of 1,485 square kilometers (573 sq mi). According to the most recent definition agreed upon by the federal and state governments, the population of Greater Vilanja is 11.3 million, which makes it the one of the largest metropolitan areas of the Western Euronian continent.
