The Kingdom of Vita (Regno de Vivo (Vitan)) or Citystate of Vita or just Vita is a nation in the Coalition of Crown Albatross located on the continent of Adula, surrounded by the Alberine Sea. The Kingdom is divided into 8 Districts and subdivided into 20 Municipalities. Vita is a developed country.

Etymology

The Etymology of the name, Vita comes from Latin for the word "life". It was named "Insuloj de Vivo" in Vitan starting by 1930. The original name of the Vitan Islands prior to 1930 was "Insuloj de La Ĝardeno de Edeno kaj Sankta Maria" in Vitan (Islands of The Garden Eden and Saint Mary (in English)). The Islands prior to human inhabitation were considered untouched and stunning. To many, the islands were considered the Garden of Eden of the world. It's beauty was seen as a great power all on it's own.

History

Colonization

In 1837 Albarine would take over the Vitan Islands. The Vitan Islands prior to this point were not populated. Between 1840 and 1870 upto 250,000 immigrants came to Vita's shores. During the mid-1870's the industrial revolution would begin.

Dictatorship Of Elbert Hubbard (1956-2000)

At the age of 29 Elbert Hubbard would take the reins of leadership as Prime Minster at independence. Both Hubbard and King Constantine feared left wing socialism and communism. Hubbard lead the independence movement since 1950 to victory.

Hubbard's National Front Party won the first multi party elections in May of 1956. They would be the last multi party elections until the elections of 2002. The National Front was a far-right nationalist populist movement. The National Front and Hubbard would announce a "new war" against leftists, immoral actors, and the non-religious in the fall of 1956.

The National Front immediately began a violent crackdown against leftists. Many times resulting in massacres. Most notable were the massacres of 1957, 1961, 1963, 1968, 1975, 1976, 1985, 1989, and 1990. It is estimated that during the dictatorship, anywhere between 10,000 and 15,000 people were killed. A further 5,000 people are missing to this day.

The Hubbard Dictatorship rapidly expanded and modernized the Vitan Armed Forces. To deal with internal and external threats. Vita under Hubbard's brutal dictatorship was transformed from an poor agricultural backwater to a modern prosperous city state. Hubbard was considered the last of the iconic 20th century dictators. At the age of 74 Hubbard would announce the end of an era on November 18, 2001 in a prime time address.

Hubbard would explain that he would step down on February 1, 2002 after the first democratic multi party elections would be held in 46 years. The Hubbard Dictatorship would begin to lossen restrictions and allow parties to form. On January 3, 2002 the first democratic multi party elections were held. Nearly a month later on February 1, 2002 at 12 pm Vitan Summer Time, Hubbard would step down, thus allowing second Prime Minister George Howe and his Progressive Party to come to power. Hubbard never apologized for the crimes his dictatorship committed, nor was he ever tried for them. Hubbard would live a private life in his villa from 2002 until his death on November 30, 2021 at age 94 at 12:02 am Vitan Time.
