Willem III (Willem Frederik Karel Alexander; 8 March, 1952) was High King of Atmora and the King of Lieseltania from 11 December 1980 until his abdication in 10 May 2012. After his abdication he is known as High King Willem III. Willem III married childhood friend Alice McKean the two have two daughters and one son.

Willem III is the eldest son of High Queen Katherine I and her husband, Prince Wilson, Duke of Langford. Upon his mother's accession in 1939, He was made the heir apparent upon his birth in 1952. In 1971, William married Alice McKean whom he met while in high school, with whom he had three children. When his mother abdicated on 30 April 1980, William succeeded her as King.

On King's Day (Dutch: Koningsdag) 2012, Willem III abdicated in favour of his elder daughter, Darlene, and resumed the title of Prince. Since his abdication, Willem III is the oldest former-monarch in history.

Early life and education

William was born at the Myrtlegrove Palace in Stettin, Sleswick-Holstaia on 8 March 1952, during the reign of his mother Katherine I. His mother was Katherine I, the High Queen of Atmora. His father was Nicholas, 5th Count of Lezhë, the eldest and only son of the previous Countess of Lezhë.

He was born in the 21st year of his mother's reign who took the throne at the age of 16 after the assassination of his grandmother High Queen Elizabeth by an anarchist. Because William was born during his mother's reign he was automatically at birth the Crown Prince of Atmora and Lieseltania, Duke of Wolf, Duke of Rosenthal, Count of Chester, Count of Castamere, Baron of Stettin, and Lord of Hainberg. As was customary for upper-class children at the time, a governess, Catherine Ravenstein, was appointed and undertook his education between the ages of five and eight. The Alexandria Royal Palace announced in 1961 that William would attend school rather than have a private tutor, making him the first heir apparent ever to be educated in that manner.

William has two younger twin sisters Nora and Madeleine, who were born 2 years after.

William attended the Alexandria Preparatory School, he graduated as the valedictorian of the class of 1970. William after graduating from the APA enrolled in the Alexandria Royal University, where he graduated with a Masters of Arts degree.
