Zayed Wahd (August 17 1922 - July 12 1994), was the president of the Party for Democracy and Secularism from its creation on October 13 1992 to his death on July 12 1994, when Vrede Airlines Flight 1080 was hijacked and the plane crashed into the Anchor Lake.
During the regime of Jalil Al Kharrabi, he fled to Riamo, where he wrote books about democracy and secularism in Salamat (most notably "The urge for democracy" in 1985 and "Secularism and its mechanics" in 1988). These books costed him one assasination attempt on March 24 1989, when a hitman disguised as a bartender put drugs in his wine glass, but Zayed Wahd's wife, Selma Wahd, drank in the glass, and died minutes later.
Zayed returned to Salamat on March 2 1992, one month after the fall of the Kharrabi regime. After the start of multipartyism in Salamat on October 11 1992, Zayed created the Party for Democracy and Secularism on October 13, and was designated president of the party until his death.
Zayed Wahd was married to Selma Wahd from 1947 to her death in 1989, and had four children :

- Aminah Wahd (born April 9 1955)
- Laila Wahd (December 29 1956 - May 4 1983)
His fourth and last child, Laila Wahd, was assasinated on order of Al Kharrabi in Dar Al Hamma, on May 4 1983.
