Zela, officially the Commune of Zela, is a nation in eastern America. It is bordered by Orad to the northeast, Bec to the northwest, and Cuba to the west. It has a coast with the Ontro Sea to the south, the Canda Passage to the southeast, and the Canda Gulf to the east.

Zela ranks moderately for civil liberties and low for political freedom. The only political ideology allowed is socialism, all others being banned. Surveillance is common and there are flaws in the legal system. Zela has no jury system, and only the judge determines the outcome of trials. This leads to high probability of unfair trials and false convictions or acquittals.

Zela has a weak economy based almost entirely on agriculture and local trade. Zela is not considered advanced and has very little technological abilities. This has led it to be influenced greatly by neighbouring countries and Magarsha.

Etymology

Zela is derived from the name Venezuela; an old country that existed in northern Columbia. Venezuela was named after Venice, do to European explorers seeing stilt house, which reminded them of the city. Zela is primarily populated by people of Venezuelan heritage, thus the country was given a similar name.
