Sury, officially the Republic of Sury, is a nation in central America. It is bordered by Free Republic to the west, the American Nomadic Region (ANR) to the southwest, Lomba to the south, Asal to the southeast, Kecha to the east, Pera to the northeast, and Tas to the far north.

Sury ranks moderately for civil liberties and moderately high for political freedom. Privacy is not protected and searches are common. Justification for this according to the government is to protect citizens from raiders and cartels located in the ANR and Free Republic. Other liberties have been violated in order to preserve safety and security, however many believe these measures to be intrusive and unnecessary. Democracy is protected with little governmental restrictions on democratic processes, but ideologies sympathetic to Freeman and ANR citizens are banned or heavily restricted.

Sury has few natural resources, and its economy relies on plants, seeds, food, and agricultural supplies. Due to the perishability of Sury’s main exports, it only exports to American countries, especially Asal which relies on Sury’s food products to survive. Sury is a key member in talks for forming a new economic union with Pera, Loklan, and Kecha.

Etymology

Sury was named after the old United States state of Missouri, which itself was named after the Native American tribe Missouria, which is derived from the Algonquian name for the tribe; Wimihsoorita.
