Anina in 1991

She was the Progressive Alliance's candidate in the 1982 presidential election. She had been chosen at the last minute, after the PA contemplated sitting out the election.

During her campaign, she opposed the PA's participation in the Aén Ďanez government. However, she couldn't overcome the public's frustration with the wretched decade. She finished fourth, with 14,8% of the vote, and was eliminated. Her result marked a huge setback from Reda Kazan's landslide victory of 1975.
