The royal and federal navy is the naval fist of the high king and the absolute royal federation and besides the royal aerocorps and the royal guard one of the organisations that makes up krigsmakten and it is the second largest and one of the more important parts of the krigsmakt. With 10 million men working as either naval infantry or service personal so is the navy one of the strongest forces in the federation manpower wise and only the royal guard can match them in numbers with the royal aerocorps being a sad third man with only half the manpower that the army and the navy controls.
Due to the history of combat and the need for a large fleet in the federation so have the fleet and the army historically always been given the same respect in the federation which have resulted in Imerian warriors fighting on foot and horses, chariots and mammoths have historically been given a secondary roll since they were hard to transport by ship.
The duties of the federal and royal navy is to achieve naval superiority to support troops on the offensive, to defend the federation from external threats and finally to uphold the kings law on the ocean.
History
The history of the royal and federal navy starts just as with the royal guard in the longships owned and operated by the Stjärnkhrone house before unification. However where the royal guard and the navy differs is that the guard were formed directly when the kingdom were united even if it still were supported by vassal troops back in those days. The navy on the other hand remained just the personal ships owned by various noblemen and tribes and it was firstly when the federation were officially established with the annexation of Erathia when a royal navy were established by demanding that every nobleman should have 10 out of their ships to become part of the royal navy.
Just as the army had done years before so did the royal and federal navy slowly and steadly grow until most of the warship under federal control obeyed the king rather than individual noblemen.
Organisation
The royal and federal navy is as the rest of the army represented by the military advisory in the royal court and then is it lead by a council of five knight admirals that then in true military fashion is direct obeying and answering to the high king himself. It is then further divided into several armadas, one for every realm to be more precise and each armada is in turn lead by an admiral.
These armadas is further divided into attack fleets, often larger capital ships and their escorts which are lead by a squire admiral.
The ranks of the federal navy have grown and got more and more specialised since the days when Imerians sailed with only a captain, a drummer, a few sailors handling the sail and finally a load of warriors that rowed the mighty longships that Imerians used to travel over their own continent.
