The Dorada (lit. 'Assembly'; Weranic: Versammlung) is the unicameral parliament of the Free State of Ostry, a constituent free state of Werania. Formed in 1986 as a consequence of Weranic administrative reforms, the Dorada is the first and only democratic legislature in Ostry since the Middle Ages.

The Dorada, as the legislative branch of the Ostric government, consists of 15 Assembly Members (Ostric: Bëtnik Dorada; Weranic: Mitglied der Versammlung) or AMs, elected every four years or earlier by a single non-transferable vote in one constituency, which covers the entire island. The Dorada has the power to draft and pass domestic legislation, provide advice to the federal government of Werania, and nominate the Minister-Chairman.

History

The concept of an Ostric legislature was popularized among the nationalist and autonomist community on the island during the mid-20th century, and became a point of discussion during the drafting of Ostric home rule in the late 1980s. The Dorada officially came in to existence on 1 January 1986, with the signing and ratification of the Ostric Free State Act, granting the island home rule as a constituent free state of Werania.

Although the official Weranic translation of the Dorada is Versammlung, the assembly is often colloquially called the Dorada in Weranic media and everyday speech.

President

The President of the Dorada (Ostric: Prezydent Dorada; Weranic: Präsident der Versammlung) is the speaker of the Dorada, and in charge of directing debate and discussion in the chamber.

The current President is Nataliô Kohl of the Social Democratic Radical Party, who has held the position since 2020.
