The Liga Dreamplanet (originally called Primeira Divsão) is the top professional association football division of Dreamplanetian Football. As of the 2003–04 season, the Liga Dreamplanet is contested by 18 teams, with no promotion or relegation.
Founded in 2000 as the Primeira Divsão, it was meant to unify the best teams of each regional FA into one big league, the biggest teams in Dreamplanet quickly became Sporting CD and FC Libon, both regional rivals, the only team that has won the league apart from those two is Coerefente, who had a shock win in 2003-04, the Liga Dreamplanet was later incorporated into the region of Esportiva, making 2004-05 the first season that the top 2 teams would go to the Campionato Esportivano di Campeones, instead of only the champion going to the Champions' Cup.
History
Before 2000, Dreamplanetian football did exist, however it was split up into regional FAs from 1988 to 2000. The most competitive FA was seemingly the Libon FA, having the rivalry of FC Libon and Sporting CD and also other competitive teams like Libon United in the mix, however in other leagues, specially the former Island League, clubs like Real Island CD were raising eyebrows, so after 12 years playing in regional competitions and the Taça Dreamplanet, the League was made.
