Francis Bessette is a Zamastanian disbarred lawyer who served as an attorney for President Atticus Moreau. He was a key figure in the Barismont scandal as special prosecutor Arthur Aubert and Tofino district attorney Curt Marchand discovered Bessette had paid a hush money settlement to four aides of Moreau during his 2020 presidential campaign and had attempted to blackmail a judge during his administration to drop pending charges against Robert Berecraft, which constituted obstruction of justice.
