Aquitinia
The word “Aquitinia” comes from the Aquitaan word for water, being merged with a suffix to indicate it is a place. The name derives from the large number of lakes within Aquitinia, alongside the strong connection Aquitinia has with the sea, such as the Aquitaan sea, which it envelops.

The Demonym Aquitinian derives directly from Aquitinia, with its plural for being Aquitinians. In the possessive, the term Aquitaan is often used, such as with the Aquitaan Sea and the Aquitaan language.

‘’’Aquitinia’’’, officially known as the ‘’’Awesome Autocracy of Aquitinia’’’ (Aquitaan: L'impressionnante Autocratie d'Aquitinia) is a country located in the crook of Ardentia. It has no far off territories, with its only territories that reside outside of the Aquitaan Sea being three island chains within the Magnumare. Mainland Aquitinia shares a land border with x (people move too much). Its twelve regions span a total of x square miles (x km2). It also completely controls the Aquitaan sea, which spans from the Grille islands to the mouth of the river Detwah. Aquitinia is famous for its many strange, and often formidable, monstrous sapients, many of which are seen nowhere else in Kalrania.

The areas controlled by Aquitinia possess some of the oldest records of sapient peoples. The oldest of these records call all the way back to the Cambrian, from which the earliest mermaid remains have been dated to. However, the first proper signs of Mermaid civilization date to the Devonian period. Little is known about how dominant the mermaids were during these ancient periods, with the only provable assertion being that they were quite common. Little is known about how or when the Drakons appeared, with no archeological record existing.

Aquitinia is known for its relatively reserved status on the global stage, still interacting with countries in international events, such as the Eclipse Games, but not being involved with colonization efforts or large scale wars. Combined with its advantageously secure location, this has made Aquitinia a very reliable, while also mostly non-threatening, player on the world stage.

Etymology

The word “Aquitinia” comes from the Aquitaan word for water, being merged with a suffix to indicate it is a place. The name derives from the large number of lakes within Aquitinia, alongside the strong connection Aquitinia has with the sea, such as the Aquitaan sea, which it envelops.

The Demonym Aquitinian derives directly from Aquitinia, with its plural for being Aquitinians. In the possessive, the term Aquitaan is often used, such as with the Aquitaan Sea and the Aquitaan language.
