The village of Roztoka was founded in the 9th century as an outport for Ostric fisherman, and was one of the main settlements on the island until the founding of Erikstadt in 1719. In 1932, Roztoka amalgamated with the adjoining community of Przëkam, creating the current municipality. The Ostric Naval Museum, located in the town's Harbour District opened in 2009.
