The Vice-President of the Miersan Sotirian Republic (Miersan: Wiceprezydent mierskiej rzeczpospolitej sotyrskiej), commonly known as the Vice-President of West Miersa (Wiceprezydent Mierski Zachodniej) is the second-highest office in the Miersan Sotirian Republic. Established in October 2020 following the passage of the third amendment to the West Miersan constitution, the Vice-President is completely subordinate to the presidency, with very little day-to-day power, although in case the president is incapicitated or dies, the Vice-President would act as the acting president. The first holder of the office will be appointed on 3 October, 2021.

History

From West Miersa's independence from Soravia under the Godfredson Plan in 1936, until 2020, the deputy to the President was the Minister-President of West Miersa, who held the confidence of the National Assembly. However, almost from the start, despite it officially being a parliamentary republic, the President de-facto centralized powers in the position, effectively making the President more powerful than the Minister-President.

While in the 2000s, there was an effort made by the then-President Tomisław Sobolewski to grant powers to his Minister-President, Oskar Palubicki, following the 2011 general elections, in which Sobolewski kept control of the Presidency, but the Miersan National Party took control of the National Assembly, tensions between the two sides contributed to the 2013 constitutional crisis, which was ultimately settled by Sobolewski's resignation. This dampened support of the parliamentary republican form of governance among Naprzód supporters, and following the 2016 elections, Sylwester Wrzesiński recentralized powers in the Presidency once again.

In 2020, the status quo was officially standardized with the tabling of the third amendment, which after slight modifications, was approved by the National Assembly on 21 August. After being approved by eight voivodeships under West Miersan control on 21 October, 2020, the following day, the amendment officially came into law. Per section 6a, "the first and fifth sections of this amendment shall go into effect with the 2021 general elections," meaning the Vice-Presidency would only be officially established on 3 October, 2021.
