Anastas Barkhudar (born 22 February 1959) is an Vardanan statesman and former military officer serving, who has served as First Secretary of Vardana since 2010. He has been a Member of the Directory of Vardana, representing the People's Republic of Bayazet from 2000 to 2008, and later the Armavia since 2010.
Barkhudar was born in Tayots in the Bayazet. He studied law at the State University of Kajnadzor, graduating in 1982. He was conscripted into the military in 1977, and served as an officer in the Vardanan Army until 1984, earning the rank of Lieutenant. In 1991, he entered politics and worked as an aide to Director George Dopian, and later as the Head of the Department of Foreign Affairs from 1993 to 1996. He joined the Directory in 1996, following his successful election in Bayazet. Following his 2008 defeat, Barkudar moved to Armavia and, in 2010, was elected director. He became First Secretary in 2010, at the start of the 26th Directory.
As First Secretary, Barkhudar has overseen a growth in the powers of the office. Under his leadership, the Directory has undertaken a modernization of the military, expansion of social spending, but has been widely criticized for regressive policies and attempts to further centralize the government.
