Nomadic ritualists arrived in Alanahr between the years 80,000 and 60,000 BCE, eventually spreading north to the then Pahkah Bay (which due to falling sea levels and soil deposition would become the modern [[Pahkah Delta]]). Despite the importance of the north today, the [[al-Kija|al-Kija Valley]] was the centre of human inhabitation at this time. Abundant food sources seemed to allow the development of complex social structures based on gaining favour with the spirits of the natural world.
