Deaf Heaven (Mescon: Døv himmel, stylised as døv himmel) is a 2021 Scoverne avant-garde black comedy animated film animated, drawn, produced and written by Scoverne animator and director Ander Søren Hammar.
Based on Hammar's own experiences, the film explores the life of Jan, a middle-aged man whose wife has recently passed and his son diagnosed with the incurable Usher-Hallgren syndrome, causing him to go almost completely deaf and partially blind. Jan struggles to make ends meet and juggle his full-time job with caring for his son.
Deaf Heaven consists entirely of Hammar's own animated pencil illustrations, and raises awareness for issues such as deafblindness, mental health and single parenthood. Voice actors Frode Marcussen, Ema Mrvaljevic, Valdimar Jóannsson and Elíná Sólúlfsdóttir star in the film, as well as Hammar himself. On August 28, Hammar stated that all proceeds from the film would go towards charities for the blind and deaf. It has been nominated for the béco aùreo at the 2021 Montecara Film Festival.
