Séterrhÿana Xuxiah Sélené Ravÿnna-Asträeva otherwise known as Sélené "Alessandra Michelle" Ravÿnna-Asträeva or Dévnostraéva, primarily known as "Alessandra" or "Sandra", as she has never used her first name outside of Auracexia — is the first President of the nation, that through its various evolutions became the Californian Empire — led the nation for 241 years from the Federated Republic of California to the Californian Sovereign Democratic-Socialist Federation (CSDSF). Officially a Democrat, she aligned herself with the Democratic-Socialist Party of California (CDSP), comprised of the Democratic and Socialist parties as the dominant faction in the new coalition government, as a means of maintaining a cohesive government in Californian politics. Upon the split of the CDSP after the Socialists lost their majority, she quickly aligned herself with the Democratic-National Democratic Party forsaking the tactics of the Socialists upon their resorting to domestic terrorism to retain their majority status. Originally against her election as President of the Federated Republic of California, she humbly accepted her nomination and set to work in forging a new identity for the nation.

Owing to her previous career of serving in the Red Army of the Soviet Union beginning around late 1963, she achieved the rank of Sergeant Major before emigrating from the Soviet Union to the United States at some point in late 1977, and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps at a rank equivalent to that of Sergeant Major. While serving in the United States Marine Corps at the rank of Major, she kept a low profile and committed herself to her duties before joining the United States Navy in 1984 as an Lt. Cdr. working her way to Admiral, and then in 1994 as a Senator for the state of California, she had years of military and political experience that made her an ideal candidate for President.

She is described as a stoic, cool-headed, calculated and eager to compromise by her supporters; her detractors portray her has emotionless, premeditating and willing to sell out to achieve her goals. Outside of the Californian Empire; Sélené has been branded as a godless Communist, an Imperialist, and an iron-fisted dictator under the assumption that she among the others to have held the office of President in the Californian Empire are elected to lifetime terms. Selene has led the nation through the Second American Civil War (also known as the War for Independence), various conflicts in North America, Africa and the Middle East, turning the small confederation of former American states into a veritable empire.

Born as Séterrhÿana Xuxiah Sélené Ravÿnna-Asträeva/Dévnostraéva in the imperial capital city of Ser'khetyeva (Ser Khe'tyeva), Auracexia Prime (Aoraqet'ya Dévno) on 15 Seq'khe-met during the 763rd year of the 2nd Era of Dévnostraéva Séterrhÿana Navras Delÿa Ravÿnna (equiv to August 29, 15,208 BCE), daughter of Séterrhÿana Navras Delÿa Ravÿnna and Xuxiah Sélÿné Daénaré Asträeva. Raised by her mother's consorts, and educated upon the philosophies of political doctrine, diplomacy and military strategy she grew to become a very intelligent woman, as well as an adept politician, strategist and diplomat of uncanny versatility.

A few months after her 11,245th birthday, on 5 Aepÿrrh-met during the 8th year of the 14th Era of Dévnostraéva Séterrhÿana Navras Delÿa Ravÿnna (equiv. to November 19, 3,963 BCE) she received the blessing of her mother to explore a planet in a star system on the periphery of the Ascendant Syndicated Hegemony of Auracexia, as reports had surmised that this planet was life sustainable. Departing Auracexia Prime, she arrived on Qi'thon (Earth) after traveling for 1,000 years on 21 Aepÿrrh-met during the 208th Year of the 15th Era (December 5, 2,963 BCE). Upon arrival in the Nile Delta region of Earth, she encountered the Egyptian civilization and after altering her appearance, promptly assimilated into their culture.

Ancient Egypt (2963–2361 BCE)

After arriving near the Kharga Oiasis on December 5, 2963 BCE she promptly removed any traces of alien technology, and after altering her appearance to match that of the local population, she acquired appropriate clothing and made her way to Nekhen (Heirakonopolis) during the Early Dynastic Period in Egypt. After acclimating herself with the culture, spent two decades in the region before making her way to Thebes and settling there. It is around this time that the lands of Upper and Lower Egypt were united under King Narmer.

Sumer and Akkadian Empire (2361–2221 BCE)

At some point in the year 2361 BCE, upon learning of the cities of Ur, Uruk, Sippar and Eridu in Sumer, she collected her belongings and travelled from Egypt across the Arabian Desert before arriving in Jemdet Nasr. During the period of her time in Sumer, circa 2334 BCE, Sargon of Akkad arose, and Sumer became conquered by the Akkadian Empire. She stayed within the Akkadian Empire until the reign of Naram-Sin and left for Elam in 2221 BCE.

Elamite Civilization (2221–2036 BCE)

Sometime after arriving in the Elamite civilization, Elam was invaded and conquered by the Akkadians and remained a vassal state of the Akkadian Empire until the empire's collapse under King Sargon's great great-grandson Shar-kali-sharri. Afetr Elam achieved its independence from the Akkadians, the civilization conquered some of its neighboring city-states, notably Susa and Anshan. After a period of political unity, the Awan dynasty went into decline and finally collapsed as Elam was overrun by the Guti, which prompted her to travel northwards to Assyria in the year 2036 BCE.

Old Assyrian Empire (2036–1916 BCE)

Her period of time spent in Assyria coincides with the end of the Early Period and the beginning of the Old Assyrian Empire Periods. Having spent 120 years living in Assyria through the reign of King Ilu-shuma (c. 2008–1975 BC) until the reign of King Sargon I (1920–1881 BC), she decided it was time to move on and travelled to the Babylonian Empire in 1916 BCE.

Babylonian Empire (1916–1606 BCE)

She stayed in the Babylonian Empire through the reign of their first king Sumu-abum for 310 years until the policies during the reign of their last king Samsu-Ditana inevitably led to the Sack of Babylon in 1595 BCE.

Personal Life

"Alessandra" married Alexa Sharon Vassaretti, her Vice President during her 40th term as President of the Californian Empire in 2239. Later during Vassaretti's presidency, their daughter Fiora S. A. Dévnostraéva was conceived and born on November 14, 2258. After abdicating the crown as Empress of the Californian Empire on November 14, 2300 and crowning her daughter Fiora as the Second Empress, "Alessandra" began a relationship with Selena Helen DeWinter, officially marrying her as her second wife on August 29, 2301.
