Montgisard (Sydalene: Muntgizard), officially the Principality of Montgisard (Outremeri: Principat de-Montgisard; Sydalene Prinċipat tal-Muntgizard) is the largest and most populous of Sydalon's 11 domains.
It consists of the island Capraria, and a minor archipelago, both 10km off the Sydalene coast, and two cities on mainland Scipia. The territory has a primarily Mediterranean climate, and major tourist destinations. The culture of Montgisard is somewhat distinct compared to the rest of Sydalon, making it the only domain where Outremeri is the primary language spoken.
Montgisard has a population of 1,570,312. The co-official languages of Montgisard are Outremeri and Sydalene.
Etymology
The official name of the island that consists of the Principality of Montgisard is Capraria. The name Capraria derives from the ancient Latin naming of the island, either referring to spherical stones or the presence of wild boars. The principality takes it's name from the city of Montgisard, which serves as the capital and seat of domain. It derives it's name from the Audonias mont-, meaning mountain, and giscard most likely stemming from Louis de Guiscardi, progenitor of the House of Guiscardi, who served as a general during the Battle of Gezer outside of what later became the city of Montgisard.
