Overview

The Averius Imperial Navy, also called the Averius Navy or the Imperial Navy, is a professional naval force component of the Averius Armed Forces. The Navy was founded to protect Averius trade routes and to provide an offensive option for the Empire against far-away nations.

History

Founding

When the Navy was founded, the majority of ships being produced were ironclads, coastal defense ships, and some large sailing vessels.

First Modernization

In the year 700, the Navy began modernizing its ships to transition itself into using destroyers and cruisers using coal boilers. This modernization ensured the Empire was at-par with its neighbors in terms of naval power.

Second Modernization

In the year 750, the Navy was once again modernized to meet need technological standards that made previous ships obsolete. For the most part, the Empire stopped using naval guns as a primary weapon and transitioned into using missiles as a primary weapon.

Split

In the year 811, the Coast Guard split off from the Navy so that the Navy can focus on areas away from Averius shores and the Coast Guard could focus on the near-shore areas.
